Shorten multiple urls into one easy-to-share url using fur.ly. Enter all urls into the box (one per line). Add a custom name, if desired. Then enter the Captcha numbers to prove you are human and to receive the single url for all links. Click the link to view the first site. Navigate to the other sites using the little bar that shows at the top of the first page. Registration isn't necessary; however, it eliminates the need for entering Captcha numbers when using the site. Although we recommend this site for all ages, in the primary grades this would be strictly a professional tool for teachers to share site lists with parents, students, or even colleagues.

Take note! VideoNot.es is a collaborative notebook that will enhance your online learning experiences. Play a video file on the left side of the screen while typing notes in blank note-taking space on the right. You can't go wrong with this tool. Copy and paste a video URL from Khan Academy, Coursera, Udacity, Vimeo, or even YouTube. Play the video and start typing your notes! Each new line that you start writing on is time-coded to coincide with the video. After typing your notes, this noteworthy feature allows you to click on that line and the video will automatically jump to the spot that note was added. Imagine the time this will save you when reviewing your notes. Pause the video until the concept is understood and resume the video with keyboard shortcuts. VideoNot.es integrates with Google Drive. Save your notes in Google Drive to collaborate with friends and classmates. Collaboration with video information will revolutionize your online education and your experience in a flipped classroom. Note that this tool will not work if the video sharing service (such as YouTube) is blocked in your school.

This tool is a wonderful storage site. Use from a computer and/or download a multi-platform app for Android and iOs which is very similar to Dropbox. Use the synced folder on all your devices. Files can be updated and accessed from any device. Share files or folders with other people by generating a URL. It works on a computer with Dropbox already installed and the free account gives you 15GB of storage. They also only "count" shared storage once. So if you are "sharing" a file that belongs to someone else, it does not count against your free limit. Additional storage is available for a price. Create an account and be sure to follow the tour to learn all the parts of this app.

Use Google Keep to save notes directly to your Google Drive account. This tool requires that you have a Google account. Unlike some similar services, such as Evernote, reviewed here, notes kept in Google Keep are saved to your Google Drive account. Use for notes, voice notes, lists, and photos. Access these on any web enabled mobile device. Keep works best with Chrome browsers (there is an extension for Chrome, also) and Android phones, but our editors had no issues using other browsers as well. Google Keep can also be also used with any school's Google Apps account. Keep is colorful, which is part of the design. Be sure to use the colors as an organizational tool. Keep has a low learning curve and is very simple to use. The quick note feature is invaluable: just type your notes in the text box without logging in or switching screens. To leave a voice note, tap the microphone icon and speak. Archive items easily when you are done. Though Keep is a more generic, basic tool, its value is in its simplicity and ease of use.

Take pictures of things to do, buy, or finish. Create checklists of steps in a project. Place all of your notes in one place so you do not forget. Use this tool easily in your Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) classroom since all students will be able to access it for free, no matter what device they have. They could "keep" assignment information, reminders, and more. Consider creating a class account that can be used by all students. Spell out the use of the site and what is allowed and not allowed -- and the penalties. Even though all students have the same login, create different notebooks for different tasks that students can use to upload information to be shared by all. Create separate accounts for student groups who can then share their notebook with other groups. Use to snapshot and share links, documents, files, and pictures for any group project or class work. Whole class accounts can be used by a class scribe during class and accessed from home for review, by absentees, etc.

Screen share with students in a computer lab to demonstrate how to locate information on websites, or when learning tech tools. This is a great alternative if an interactive whiteboard or projector is not available. Use this tool to collaborate with other teachers when creating lesson plans or student documents. Have students with laptops share their screen with you during presentations to make information easier to view. Share this site with students to use at home when collaborating on projects. Help a homebound student by sharing your class computer screen and opening an audio connection over the phone. Offer "extra help" sessions via screen share at predetermined "office hours" or during a snow day or on certain evenings. Have students teach tech skills to their peers using this free sharing app. Share a student's work using a screenshare during a parent phone conference. Show a parent how to navigate a practice site you want the family to use at home.

This down to Earth site encourages you to view and appreciate nature (even on your smartphone!). Become an active part in the quest to understand nature. Share your experiences through photos, called Spottings, and tag your location. Act as a "citizen scientist" to discover organisms and share findings. Document living things (natural creatures, plants and other living things) discovered by using a camera or mobile phone. Upload the contribution to Project Noah for further studies and projects by the community. Use the search tool to look for specific organisms by name. Sightings are recorded using Google Maps. Download the app available for iPhone and Android. Click Education to access teacher tools and set up a class account.

Add to the growing database and document creatures seen in your area. As you discuss various types of organisms, assign students to take pictures of various creatures and submit for a grade. Students can make observations about the organism to submit with the picture using a class or individual account and be part of a growing group that aims to appreciate nature and understand the living things around us.

HappyClass is a FREE automatic classroom seating chart maker. HappyClass creates charts in minutes based on your students' needs and relationships. Type or paste your class roster into the website and configure the virtual desks to look like your physical classroom. The contextual menu provides options to make sure relationship factors are prioritized as well as student needs (like front or back of the room). Need a student to stay in the same seat? Pin them to the seat (not literally of course!). Edit each student's unique needs at any time as your students change throughout the year. The happiness indicator automatically determines if the student is sitting in an ideal situation. A smiley face means all is well, a so-so face means it could work, and an uh-oh face means the current seating configuration could lead to a negative classroom environment. Seating chart results are immediate with one click of a button. Not happy? Generate a completely new configuration with another click. Print your chart in a snap for your lesson plan book. The free version (Lite) includes an unlimited number of students in one editable class roster and one room setup at a time. You can add, edit or delete students, rearrange the room, or change relationships and needs of that one class over and over. The freebie limits make this well suited for self-contained classes, not teachers who see different classes throughout the day.

HappyClass is a great site to make sure seating preferences in IEPs /504 plans are met even before the first day of school. Create differentiated cooperative learning groups throughout the day in seconds. Printing charts is quick and easy. Change the configuration of your room by dragging and dropping desks. Clear the chart and start from scratch. More time to focus on instruction! Save this in your "back to school" online files!
