Sports history buffs will appreciate this very complete, but very all-text, chronology of achievements in women's sports from antiquity to the present. This is useful content, and it is interspersed with links to additional sites about some of the athletes mentioned.

In the Classroom

Include this resource as a handout for students while working on a unit about the changing roles of women and the equal rights movement for the sexes. Although some of the information is more trivial than necessary, this would be an interesting way to show students how the involvement of women in sports evolved, matching their involvement or desired involvement in the political process. Because this includes several different countries, this would be a great way to lead into a discussion of how womens' rights varied among many countries.
