The free version includes dyslexia fonts, a font changer, and the ability to adjust word spacing to make websites easier to view. Content features include Immersive Reader, translations, a picture dictionary, and screenshot tools. Enhanced display tools offer you the ability to emphasize links and adjust for color blindness. Try it for free by choosing your browser and following the directions to add the extension. After adding the extension, pin it to your toolbar and adjust the different options as desired.

Help us decide which tool is the session winner of our Smackdown! As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn about and compare some of TeachersFirst contributors' favorite technology tools; 2. Evaluate uses for one or more tools for classroom use; and 3. Join us to learn how to use Flip, PowerPoint, Whiteboard, Forms, and Sway to create practical assessments throughout your units. Whether it's a formative or summative assessment, finding ways to effectively measure students' understanding is crucial to ensuring student progress and future success. In this session, we will explore how you can use free Office and other Microsoft products to create better formative and summative assessments that reliably measure student learning, promote critical thinking, and help students develop real-world skills. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the purposes of and differences between formative and summative assessment; 2. Explore several forms of assessment for their usefulness to evaluate student learning; 3. And examine a variety of assessment methods and begin planning for their use in the classroom. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Good readers take breaks to process what they're reading. Learn research-based strategies to use Microsoft Sway to guide comprehension. Helping students become aware of reading comprehension strategies allows them to manage their learning and empowers them to read strategically. This is especially helpful in a flipped or blended learning model. Join us and learn how to put Sway into action in your classroom! As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn three active reading comprehension strategies; 2. Understand where these strategies fit in the instructional cycle; and 3. Plan for the use of Sway during reading instruction. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Meaningful feedback helps everyone improve. Microsoft Teams offers both formal and informal feedback mechanisms. In Teams, you can give students assignments with all applicable resources and templates attached, then use rubrics, polls, and quizzes to offer timely feedback on progress toward learning goals. Learn to create and use this assignment and feedback loop to help students grow. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn how to create assignments in Microsoft Teams; 2. Understand how to give students feedback on completed assignments; and 3. Plan to use a rubric to offer students feedback. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Looking for an engaging and unique way for students to demonstrate competency? Try Edpuzzle student projects. This free and flexible online tool helps students show-what-they-know while honing real-world skills. Annotating video provides students with opportunities to practice communicating complex ideas and creating authentic media. Allowing students to reflect on what they've learned and their learning process using a nonstandard assessment measure provides a more accurate assessment of what the students know. Plus, it's just fun! As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Explore Edpuzzle student projects; 2. Create an exemplar to share with students; and 3. Plan for the use of Edpuzzle student projects as part of instruction. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
