See how it works by selecting from texts included in the dropdown box or copy and paste the text of your choosing. After making a selection, click the "wander" icon to use the tool. Hover your cursor over any of the words to highlight additional words connected to the original. Click on a word to view a list of uses of that word within the text. Select words and draw lines to view connections within the text. Use the options box to select types of speech to include in your visual or to hide common words. Be sure to look at the help box to understand the three different views offered within the WordWanderer interface.

Use WordWanderer to explore and introduce many different types of text. For example, paste in a portion of a novel or chapter from a science or social studies text to share with students. Use the different features to explore connections between words and discuss vocabulary. Ask students to paste text from their work into this tool as a means for exploring their work in depth. Ask questions such as how often some words appear, can you find different adjectives, or did you use the same one too often? When finished, have students analyze their work by sharing the interactions found on WordWanderer by creating a screen recording using Free Screen Recorder Online, reviewed here.

As educators, we can prepare every child to be influential by helping them understand how to leverage the power of social media. While students intuitively understand the mechanics of social media platforms, using them in a responsible, purposeful way to build influence is not instinctual and must be taught and practiced. Learn to develop your students' social media savvy by using practice spaces focused on digital citizenship, critical thinking, persuasion, and communication skills. Explore online and offline strategies and tools to create safe, authentic learning experiences for students in grades 2-12 in any content area. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn the importance of responsible social media use by students; 2. Understand the purpose of using social media practice spaces as part of regular instruction; and 3. Explore both paper-based and digital practice spaces that can be used with students. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Use Vevox for daily quiz questions as a formative assessment or to check for understanding of a previous lesson. Use as an anticipatory guide for introducing new content. Use to check for understanding after a lecture or demonstration. Older students may want to include polls on their student blogs to increase reader engagement. Have students create polls for after a project presentation. Use polls to generate data for math class (graphing), during elections, or for critical thinking activities dealing with the interpretation of statistics. Engage students using "real" data from a survey of issues and current events that matter to them. Use it to serve as a class voting device. In the Classroom

Include a link to the Perseverance Rover site on classroom computers for students to visit and view the latest updates from Mars. Consider using Google Jamboard, reviewed here, to create an ongoing class journal sharing observations and findings. Ask students to add a sticky note with new findings and information after exploring the site. Enhance learning by asking students to design a spaceship or rover that would explore one of the other planets. Use Google Drawings, reviewed here, as a starting point for students to create their drawing. Ask them to add text boxes with descriptions of their spaceship/rover and the reasoning behind their design. Extend learning by asking students to brainstorm ideas on applying Perseverance's design features to improve everyday items used at home and school. Have students share their thoughts using an animated video explainer tool such as Renderforest, reviewed here.

Include this calculator with nutrition lessons and engage students in learning by allowing students to explore independently. Ask them to input some of their favorite vegetables and fruits to learn about how they impact the number of calories, fats, or sugars in a drink. In math class, ask students to investigate how these calculators work and develop their own formulas for finding the nutrient value in drinks and smoothies. Enhance learning by having students create infographics about nutrition using Canva Infographic Maker, reviewed here. Include an image of the nutrient label created using the calculator, along with advice for creating tasty yet healthy juices and smoothies. Extend learning by creating a class recipe ebook with Book Creator, reviewed here. Include each student's recipes and nutrition labels along with links to videos and audio created and shared by each individual.
