Enter a word of any length (unlike the original word for five-letter words only) to generate a shareable link for your word. Make a Custom Wordle also offers the option to create words in several languages, including Spanish, French, Hindi, and German. Share the link with students using email, classroom management system, or class website. When complete, copy the URL to share by pasting it into an email or your blog or classroom website.

Use this Wordle generator in various ways in any classroom for increasing problem-solving and strategy skills. When using with young students, generate three or four-letter Wordles for students to attempt with partners. Provide a list of sight words if needed to avoid frustration. When teaching older students, develop Wordles to solve using vocabulary words, weekly spelling lists, science terms, or historical characters. Provide this site to students and create Wordles to share with their peers. Include a link on classroom computers during computer centers or as an activity when finished with daily assignments. Using this site is an excellent way to include ENL/ESL students in classroom activities by creating a word from their native language. Include others in your school community or parents by developing and sharing Wordles for your school or classroom site. Your imagination only limits the possibilities of creating and sharing personalized Wordles!

LiveGap offers a suite of three online web tools, all available without registration. The first is LiveGap Charts, reviewed here. This chart creation tool is a very easy-to-use resource for creating and personalizing charts and graphs in several formats. The second resource is an editor for creating and testing HTML, Javascript, and CSS documents. The third tool is called an Icon Matrix. The Icon Matrix is a pictograph creator offered in several different formats. Each tool includes options to customize color, text, information, and more. Use the share icon found in each tool to download or share your work.

tag(s): charts and graphs (168), data (146), infographics (55)

In the Classroom

Bookmark and save LiveGap for a variety of classroom uses. Quickly create charts and graphs to represent information found in math problems, science experiments, or any other time you gather information. Share how to represent information in different ways by changing graph styles. Ask groups of students to create different kinds of graphs, then share their work with the class to compare the visual appearance of the information and determine the best format for sharing that type of information. Include the LiveGap Editor with your other resources for students to access during computer and coding lessons. The Icon Matrix is an excellent tool for creating infographics and pictographs that provide visual representations of data. This resource may take a little more practice to understand how to personalize the icons and graphics. Consider creating a tutorial to share with your students using Screen Cast-O-Matic, reviewed here. Ask students to include charts and pictographs as part of multimedia presentations using Sway, reviewed here.

Save this handy chart creation tool in your bookmarks and on student computers for various classroom uses. Enter data on the site, then demonstrate how to represent the information through multiple formats and representations. Collect data in your classroom and quickly create a graph to express it, then choose another design to share the data in another way. Share your charts by adding links or uploading images to blogs, wikis, or websites--share graphs on an interactive whiteboard or projector for better data analysis by the class. Graph results of a test, answers from students, favorite foods, fictitious budgets, class schedules, and anything applicable in your classroom. Use an informational text, and have students create a pie chart to understand how to read charts accompanying the nonfiction texts. Have cooperative learning groups create graphs to share with your class. Create quick pie charts on your interactive whiteboard whenever you count class votes or encounter other data so students "see" data visualized regularly; visual students will have another way to absorb the information. Keep the link handy on your web page for you and your students to access it quickly in or out of class.

This TeachersFirst Reading Trek, based upon the novel Currents authored by Jane Smolik, a historical novel about three girls who live in different places but are connected by a bottle that travels across the ocean. The Reading Trek provides a virtual field trip of resources using the Maps features of Google Maps. The Reading Trek includes a map link, KMZ file, and PDF guide for using the resources in the classroom. The list of ideas includes suggestions for working with maps based upon the novel and extension activities. In addition, find several additional resources suggested for further consideration. Activities are correlated to Common Core Standards, National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies, National Core Arts Standards for Visual Arts, and Next Generation Science Standards.

Use a timeline creation tool such as the ones found at Canva's Timeline Infographic Templates, reviewed here, to help students visually represent the events and interactions of the three main characters within the story. Use the model shared in this Reading Trek using Google My Maps, reviewed here, and ask students to create a virtual field trip of other novels or events studied. In addition to adding pinned locations, ask students to add photos and videos to enhance their storytelling through maps.

Share Glorify and a couple of other graphic design tools such as Canva Edu, reviewed here, and Genially, reviewed here, with students to provide options for creating and including information on presentations. Enhance learning by asking students to create short tutorials for using the features in Glorify using a screen recording tool such as Free Screen Recorder Online, reviewed here. Share the tutorials on your class playlist created on YouTube, reviewed here, or as a link on your class webpage. In the younger grades, teachers would create projects; however, older students can easily create their own Glorify presentations. Have students use this online tool as they would any presentation tool or image enhancing site. Use this site for research projects about famous people from the past and present. Have cooperative learning groups create presentations about science or math topics. Have students create presentations to "introduce" themselves to the class during the first week of school. Hexagon Generator might be the tool you always needed for student learning and understanding but never knew! Begin using the generator by adding a title and text to five or more hexagons. Then, create drag and drop connected hexagons or a PDF document with your information. The online (HTML5) generator also provides options for changing the colors of hexagons once created. Finally, save your hexagons using the link and create a password, or export as a Microsft Word worksheet.

Once you understand why hexagons help develop understanding through connections and interactions with shared information, this generator will become one of your favorite tools for classroom use! Learn more about classrooms uses for hexagons at this blog post written by the site's creator. Print the blank hexagons for use when developing units of study as a visual representation of connections to teaching during the study. Ask students to complete and connect hexagons when preparing research papers or as a guide for studying for upcoming tests and quizzes. Replace a timeline with hexagons to connect events and dates, use colors to code information by location, time, or important people. Include a link to a hexagon worksheet when preparing blended learning or remote learning lessons. For example, create a complete guided learning activity using Curipod, reviewed here, that includes videos, quizzes, and a hexagon activity. Have students create their hexagon presentations within a Google Document using the insert shape feature and select hexagon. Copy and paste, then add hexagons to customize by changing colors adding text and images to share information. For other ideas on how to create digital hexagonal thinking templates using Google Slides, reviewed here, follow the directions found on this YouTube video.

Simultaneously spinning multiple wheels opens the door to unlimited uses to engage students. For example, create six wheels with the numbers on dice as a virtual dice roller. In addition, customize wheels for creative story writing prompts that include options for random characters, setting, and story theme. Use this tool to practice math facts by creating wheels that prompt players to solve math problems based upon a spin of the wheel. Engage students when reviewing for upcoming quizzes and tests by creating wheels to check facts. For example, in social studies, create one wheel with names and another with characteristics such as date, place, important event, other characters involved, etc. Use during math lessons on probability to have students record outcomes when spinning the wheel.
