Stickies is a collaborative whiteboard for teams that use stickies to share and organize group ideas. In addition to posting sticky notes, Stickies intuitively assigns colors to messages based on the participant's text. For example, "I like" notes turn green, "I wish" is orange, and "We will" becomes blue. After creating an account, double-click on the board to start a new Stickies, then click to add a sticky note. Next, use the plus sign on the dashboard to email and add collaborators. As stickies are added, drag and drop items on the board to organize as desired. You can also make groups by piling the Stickies on top of each other, and you can vote for your favorite ideas. Incognito mode adds a helpful feature when working with collaborators, turn on incognito and set a timer to allow participants a set amount of time to think privately before sharing their sticky.

Save Stickies with your other bookmarks as a handy tool for student collaboration and organizing information throughout the year. For example, engage students in book discussions by creating a Stickies board and asking students to add stickies with details about characters, plot, and setting. Follow up by asking students to color code and organize labels based on the information. In this instance, character information might be yellow, plot blue, etc. Stickies is also an excellent tool to include with social-emotional learning activities. For example, encourage students to share sentences that begin with the "I like," "I wish," and "We will" formats as a tool for goal-setting.

Displayr is a data collection and visualization tool. The free version includes online reporting, data visualization, and machine learning tools. Easily share created reports or use the shared dashboard to collaborate on projects and data collection. After creating an account, use the dashboard to create a new document using the provided templates or a blank page. Then, manually add data sets or import information from your computer, Google Drive, and more. Use the dashboard tools to edit the look and features to include in your presentation. When complete, publish and share as a web page, export as an Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF or download to your device. Displayr also allows copying the embed code to add your presentation to a webpage.

Start or convert your podcasting to Acast's free account. There are many benefits to a free account, such as unlimited hours of audio and editing; with Acast, there are no limits for storage, uploads, or downloads. In addition, you will have your own podcast website that updates automatically, and, unlike other podcast programs, there are no limits to which podcast app you use, and a bonus to that is a one-click distribution to all podcast listening apps. Another advantage with Acast is that you get a free web player that can be embedded on your website, blog, and social media. On top of all that, you get free analytics that shows episode performance, geography, and more. As if all of this isn't enough, if you use another podcasting program, easily switch over to Acast.

With older students (and strong readers), you may want to pair them up and have them read Aclass Essentials for the basics of podcasting. Using Fiskkit, reviewed here, with this article will enhance student learning. For younger students or weaker readers, use Read Ahead, reviewed here, on your whiteboard or with a projector for a guided reading session. There are many uses for podcasting in a classroom! Create regular podcasts to share on your class web page or wiki. Record class assignments or directions. Record story time or a reading excerpt for younger ones to listen to at a computer center AND from home, adding a touch of blended learning to your classroom! Have readers (perhaps older buddies) enhance their learning and build fluency by recording selected passages for your non-readers. Launch a service project for your fifth or sixth graders to record stories for the kindergarten to use in their reading and listening center. Challenge students to create "you are there" recordings as "eyewitnesses" to historical or current events. Make a weekly class podcast, with students taking turns writing and sharing the "Class News," encourage and extend learning and have students create radio advertisements for concepts studied in class (Buy Dynamic DNA!). Invite students to write and record their own stories or poetry in dramatic readings. English language learners or students just beginning to read could record their fluency by reading passages. Allow parents to hear their child's progress reading aloud, etc. Compare world language, speech articulation, or reading fluency at two points during the year. Challenge your Shakespeare students to record a soliloquy. Write and record a poem for Father's or Mother's Day (or other special events) and send the URL as a gift to that special person. If you have gifted students who lean toward the dramatic, this tool is simple enough for them to create dramatic mini-casts without needing any additional tools.

Convert your text into audio spoken by your favorite characters using FakeYou; no registration is required. Choose from many options to select a voice; options include celebrities, cartoon characters, foreign language accents, and more. After choosing a voice, type your text into the box and click "Speak." Scroll down to find the results. Use the play button to listen to the results and follow the link to download the WAV file. Audio is computer-generated, so it may not be an exact duplicate of the chosen voice; however, the representations are close and are helpful for several different uses.

Scribe is a must-have Chrome browser extension for every classroom for creating step-by-step guides for many different uses. After installing the extension and creating an account, activate a Scribe recording to create and share step-by-step tutorials that follow your activity on the computer. Some examples shared include how to strikethrough text in a Google document, how to create a GIF from a YouTube video, and how to merge mail in Gmail. To create a Scribe, click the record button on your browser or Chrome extension and navigate to your starting page. Scribe records each of your actions with a small screenshot and creates a series of steps that guides viewers through the process shared. When finished, click the record button again to stop recording. Your Scribe appears on your account dashboard and offers options to edit the contents. After saving, use the provided link to share with others, embed using the shared code, or download it as a PDF.

Pear Deck, reviewed here, offers an innovative option for creating flashcards through their integration with Google, Merriam-Webster, and Gimkit. Begin by creating a vocabulary list using your list or adding words and definitions from the dictionary. Select "Play Flashcard Factory" to share with students when your list is complete. After logging in with a Google account, students use the provided link and access code to enter Flashcard Factory. After joining, the site assigns students a partner to work with to create example sentences and illustrations using the vocabulary terms. As a final product, the teacher selects from the flashcards created by students to create a class flashcard set. Print or share the completed set to Gimkit, reviewed here.

In the Classroom

Flashcard Factory is an excellent tool for both in-person and remote learning. Use this feature to create vocabulary lists for spelling, science terms, social studies events, etc. Differentiate learning by creating lists for different student abilities or interests. Because students are the creators, they are engaged and more motivated in the learning process. Extend learning by asking students to write short stories or create writing journals using the vocabulary words used in the flashcards. For example, search for vocabulary at Read Write Think, reviewed here, to find the lesson plan for My World of Lists: Building Vocabulary Lists. This lesson culminates with students creating a "My World of Words Journal."

Customize and share personalized Wordles based upon the popular word game, Wordle, reviewed here using Make a Custom Wordle. Enter a word of any length (unlike the original word for five-letter words only) to generate a shareable link for your word. Make a Custom Wordle also offers the option to create words in several languages, including Spanish, French, Hindi, and German. Share the link with students using email, classroom management system, or class website. When complete, copy the URL to share by pasting it into an email or your blog or classroom website.

In the Classroom

Use this Wordle generator in various ways in any classroom for increasing problem-solving and strategy skills. When using with young students, generate three or four-letter Wordles for students to attempt with partners. Provide a list of sight words if needed to avoid frustration. When teaching older students, develop Wordles to solve using vocabulary words, weekly spelling lists, science terms, or historical characters. Provide this site to students and create Wordles to share with their peers. Include a link on classroom computers during computer centers or as an activity when finished with daily assignments. Using this site is an excellent way to include ENL/ESL students in classroom activities by creating a word from their native language. Include others in your school community or parents by developing and sharing Wordles for your school or classroom site. Your imagination only limits the possibilities of creating and sharing personalized Wordles!

LiveGap offers a suite of three online web tools, all available without registration. The first is LiveGap Charts, reviewed here. This chart creation tool is a very easy-to-use resource for creating and personalizing charts and graphs in several formats. The second resource is an editor for creating and testing HTML, Javascript, and CSS documents. The third tool is called an Icon Matrix. The Icon Matrix is a pictograph creator offered in several different formats. Each tool includes options to customize color, text, information, and more. Use the share icon found in each tool to download or share your work.

In the Classroom

Bookmark and save LiveGap for a variety of classroom uses. Quickly create charts and graphs to represent information found in math problems, science experiments, or any other time you gather information. Share how to represent information in different ways by changing graph styles. Ask groups of students to create different kinds of graphs, then share their work with the class to compare the visual appearance of the information and determine the best format for sharing that type of information. Include the LiveGap Editor with your other resources for students to access during computer and coding lessons. The Icon Matrix is an excellent tool for creating infographics and pictographs that provide visual representations of data. This resource may take a little more practice to understand how to personalize the icons and graphics. Consider creating a tutorial to share with your students using Screen Cast-O-Matic, reviewed here. Ask students to include charts and pictographs as part of multimedia presentations using Sway, reviewed here.

Certify'em is an add-on to Google Forms that automatically generates personalized certificates. Follow the instructions to install and authorize the add-on before using it. After installation, personalize Certify'em within any form to create a certificate upon completion of a minimum score. Free accounts allow members to make their templates or choose from those shared on the site. Your Certify'em account also maintains a record of all exam attempts.

Certify'em is an excellent addition to every Google Forms members' toolbox. Create and share certificates with students for successful completion of quizzes and tests. Use Certify'em as a means for differentiating instruction by allowing students to take a pre-assessment test before starting a new unit. If they obtain a certificate, offer an alternative extended learning activity. Use this add-on to "certify" students for various classroom needs, such as learning safety procedures before starting a science lab activity or to "certify" students to take care of class pets.

Vizzlo is a free chart maker site offering a wide variety of options for sharing data in different formats. Get inspired by visiting the gallery to view examples of the layouts and means for sharing data. To begin creating, sign in to your account and select "Create." If you know the type of chart you want, use the keyword search to find it. Next, browse through the page to see examples, or use the filters to find options by use, type, and alphabetical list. The possibilities include well-known charts, including timeline creators and pie charts, along with less familiar varieties such as puzzle charts. Select a chart to begin creating by using the features found on the dashboard. Personalize data, colors, and the page setup. When complete, download as a PNG image, share a link by email or embed the code into a website. Free plans offer many features and access to a wide variety of charts; however, all charts created using a free plan will include Vizzlo's dominant watermark on the image.
