Inside the Fort

Inside, the fort had an open space used for training soldiers and militia. There were also several buildings, each with a specific purpose. A sheltered, open hearth area could be used for cooking or for making or repairing tools and weapons. Separate, small buildings housed officers, a kitchen, a storehouse, and bunks for enlisted men.

Officers lived in one building. It had a table, a bed, and a writing desk. The desk is under a window to make use of daylight.
