Trace is a simple to use photo editing tool that instantly removes backgrounds from images and changes backgrounds. After creating an account, upload your photo, and Trace removes the background and leaves the image's main focus. Download the edited image as a PNG file or continue through the additional options to add a new color background, upload a new image for the background, use one of Trace's background images, or edit using the crop tool. When finished, download your image to your device.
In the Classroom
Bookmark this site for many classroom uses. Combine your downloaded image with others using a variety of tools, including Google Slides. Choose a background image of a city being studied, a different time, or in a far-away setting like the moon, then place your student image on top. Resize the image to fit the scene. Include this image as a starter for class projects. Use images on top of book covers for book talks, create images for story characters and heroes, or use for weather reports. The ideas for using this tool are only limited by your imagination and that of your students. We all know that learners need feedback. To maximize the benefit from that feedback, it should be given immediately -- ideally after each question. Google Forms can make that happen using conditional branching, the ability to send a user to a different question (or a different page of questions) based on the answer the user supplies. Learn to make your forms more functional and help every student be successful on your next quiz! As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Create a Google Form. 2. Use branching to facilitate instant remediation and feedback. 3. Discuss tips and tricks for management of Google Forms. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Follow the instructions to learn how to draw ladybugs and other insects, then follow the directions to go on an insect hunt to learn about ants and beetles. Download or print the five-page activity book using the links provided on the top of the page.

This printable activity book provides the opportunity to engage students and inspire curiosity to learn more about bugs and insects. It is useful when teaching in-classroom or during remote learning lessons. Ask students to use the activity book as they look for and observe insects in their world. If possible, ask students to take photographs of insects they find and then use them to compare and contrast features. Use PhotoCollage, reviewed here, to create a collage using images taken by students, then use the Venn Diagram creator found at ClassTools, reviewed here, to compare and contrast features. As a final project, create a digital class book using Book Creator, reviewed here. Include images, writing samples, student audio, and more in your book. For younger students, WriteReader, reviewed here, is another option for creating and sharing digital books. WriteReader offers the ability to share collaborative student writing that includes original student writing along with "correct" spelling underneath.

To extend learning, have students use a multimedia presentation tool such as Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education, reviewed here, to share their learning. It's as easy as 123 to create a blog or build your website with Site123. Click the Get Started button and choose the type of website you want. There are 16 categories ranging from blogs to music, business, photography, portfolio, creative arts, and several others. Next, add the name for your blog or website, and last, sign up with your name and email, or your Facebook or Google account. Once this is done you can start designing by choosing from templates, their royalty-free images (or upload your own), add text, videos, and music. Use your dashboard to add pages and edit at any time, even after you've published your page. An added bonus is that you can create multiple websites and/or blogs under one account and one admin username. Be sure to check out the video tutorials for building your website and all the features available to you, such as approving comments, sharing on social media, and more! If your district blocks YouTube the tutorials may not be viewable. You can then look under the settings tab, the FAQs, or write to a support person (available 24/7).
