NotebookLM is the handy study aid you never knew you needed. Add links to websites and videos, text, and documents to create study guides, timelines, and even an audio podcast summarizing the information provided. Follow the prompts to add one or more items to your notebook. When ready, use the "Notebook Guide" to create study guides, FAQs, a table of contents, a timeline, or a briefing document. Once you create documents, if desired, select them to gather and create additional resources such as an outline or ask NotebookLM to suggest related ideas. The audio summary option creates a two-person conversation in the form of a podcast to discuss the information and offers some customization options, including the ability to focus the discussion on a specific topic or audience. The materials are shareable with a custom link, and the audio podcast is also available for download as a .WAV file.

This series of videos explores the separation of church and state, how a bill becomes law, how presidents govern, judicial review, election basics, and more. Videos range from nine to eleven minutes. This site uses YouTube and has commercials before each video.

Students can research specific people who were influential from the video's time period. Rock your lessons using popular music and pop culture to engage students. The standards-aligned lessons provide interdisciplinary connections using music as the starting point for in-depth explorations and guided activities. Use the search feature to find lessons and collections sorted by subject, music genre, type of activity, and topic. Subjects range from Civics to CTE to STEAM to Art/Design and many others. Each lesson begins with an essential question and includes procedures, student handouts, and videos.

In the Classroom
Take advantage of these free lessons to find standards-based lessons and activities for many content areas. Encourage students to find additional examples of connections to history (or another subject) made with pop music and pop culture. Use Padlet, reviewed here to curate and share ideas and resources. Add your own resources to create interactive presentations using NearPod, reviewed here or Pear Deck, reviewed here. Include videos, animations, quizzes, and more as part of your presentation. Extend student learning by asking them to create podcasts using Buzzsprout, reviewed here to tell the story of how music and pop culture influenced different historical events.
