Verse by Verse is an experimental poetry-creation project by Google that uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) to help create poems using classic American poets' suggestions. Begin by selecting up to 3 muses for inspiration. If you aren't sure who they are, click on any image to view short biographical information. During the next step, choose a poem structure, syllable count, and rhyme. Enter the first line of your poem and become inspired by options presented by your muses! When finished, choose from options to copy the text or add a border, then download it as a PNG image. Make sure your students know to attribute the AI Generated poem. There are programs out there to detect AI created writing, see GPTZero, reviewed here.

In the Classroom

Introduce different forms of poetry and poets using Verse by Verse. Offer students time to explore and experiment with the different features to become familiar with the different types of formats and styles of the included poets. Have students share their poetry digitally by creating an audio podcast using Podbean, reviewed here. Podbean features easy to use tools for creating short audio podcasts. Encourage students to rehearse reading their poetry and add proper intonation, spacing, and reading techniques such as they would for an in-person poetry reading. Besides sharing poems, ask students to add images and record audio, read their poems, and then share their creative process when writing poetry. Share student recordings on a class blog created with a free blog tool such as Site123, reviewed here, or in a series of blogs based on different forms of poetry.

Previous experience with layer-based design software editing such as Photoshop is extremely beneficial. The Photopea Learn page provides helpful tutorials, but individuals without previous training may need additional support.

Challenge students to learn about the different options and features included with Photopea, then create and share video tutorials for their peers using a screen recording tool like Free Screen Recorder Online, reviewed here. As your students become familiar with the different features, have students include their edited images in any multimedia projects. Include images when using Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education, reviewed here, when creating videos, flyers, or websites. Use AnyFlip in a variety of ways in the classroom. Upload multipage PDF documents to create easier to read flip-style books. Download the desktop version for you and your students to create interactive books for any subject. Make books for younger students to teach colors or ABC's. Have students create interactive books to show what they know at the end of any unit. For example, have groups of students create books that share information about the 50 states, make books sharing interactive instructions on completing a lab activity, or use in art class to share information about different styles of art and artists.

Take the stress out of creating proper citations using Bibliography.com's citation creator; no registration required. Bibliography.com focuses on creating citations using the three major formats - Chicago, APA, and MLA. Enter a book title, author, or URL to begin selecting the appropriate item from the resulting search. If necessary, add edits to the information such as page number or annotation, then create your citation. Copy and paste your citation into any document or download it to Microsoft Word. Although registration isn't required, creating a free account offers you options, including online storage that makes all items saved accessible from any device.

This is a great site to recommend to students for use at home to build properly constructed citations. If using on classroom computers, previous citations would not be available for all students to use; recommend that students create an account to store and access all previous work. It is simple and easy, and until academics across the world decide on one format, this allows us to digitally "attach" a dynamic image of the resource to scholarly work: a great tool!

MyBib is a bibliography and citation generator that offers many different citation styles. Use this simple tool to create and save citations for various resources, including websites, PDFs, and ISBN. Begin by selecting the type of resource from the options bar or drag a PDF onto the site. Follow the prompts that may ask for additional information. When finished, select the download option to copy and add to a document, choose from other options to print, add to Google Drive, and more. Creating an account is optional; however, it allows you to save your citations for future use. MyBib also offers a Chrome extension that creates citations directly from websites.

Include this tool on all classroom computers and as a link on your class website for student use. This bibliography tool helps students properly format their Works Cited pages. Use this tool to help keep your students (or even yourself) organized! Make sure you teach plagiarism lessons about paraphrasing and proper citation of sources, so students use this tool properly! Take the drudgery out of writing formal papers by emphasizing thinking over mechanics. Whether teaching beginning research or seniors in high school, introduce them to MyBib. For younger students, seeing all the formatting and citing done correctly from the beginning makes sense, whether it is the body of the writing or the bibliography. With either age group, give lessons about each part of a paper or letter. Demonstrate on an interactive whiteboard (or with a projector) and think out loud as a group to pull together ideas, sources, quotes, and more to support an argument and build a paper. You can use it, too, when you write for your graduate program. Since you can choose from virtually any formatting style, you do not have to worry about memorizing punctuation and double-checking the format.

ziplet is a free student response system that works on all devices. Use ziplet to send questions to students instantly or schedule them in advance. After registration, follow the steps to create a group, invite students, and ask questions. Choose from different options for student responses, including multiple-choice, short answer, emoji reactions, or a scaled score from 1-7. Invite students into your group using the provided code. Students use their Google account to login and access questions. Upon receiving responses, Loop provides options for responding to students. Free accounts allow two teachers to use the application with three groups and 50 students per group.

As the title states, this site converts PDF documents to Excel documents. Upload a file of any size from your computer, Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive without having to create an account. Files remain on the site's server for six hours before being automatically deleted. Once converted, all information imports into an Excel file, and any tables in the original document become fully editable and formatted. The conversion speed depends on the file's size and server speed; our practice document was ready to use within a minute.

Each round table starts with a statement of the learning goals for the activity. Students then view added content and multimedia, including videos, articles, and other information to support the discussion. After reviewing the content, students participate by responding to discussion questions followed by peer feedback. After creating a round table, invite students to participate using the join code or link to your activity. Another option available on the site is Parlay Genie, an artificial intelligence-based tool that creates discussion prompts based on your topic, grade range of students, and additional information such as weblinks and the number of students. In addition, Parlay connects to Google Classroom, Schoology, Canvas, and other school platforms, allowing educators to assign to students automatically. The free option offers up to twelve round tables and one custom content request.

Parlay is an excellent tool to help you teach listening and discussion skills! Browse Parlay's topics to find many ideas for engaging students in thoughtful discussions and conversations. Take advantage of the time-saving features found in Parlay Genie to generate discussion questions and ideas based on your source materials and content. Include recorded conversations and written student responses using Vocaroo, reviewed here. If sharing articles to discuss, use Fiskkit, reviewed here, for students to annotate and comment within each article. The free Parlay option is limited; however, access to the Round Table ideas is free. Use these ideas to promote classroom discussion with Gravity, reviewed here. Ask students to use Gravity to record video responses upon completing the learning and discussion portions of the Round Table activities.

Wooclap takes smartphones into the classroom for use as an interactive learning tool. Use Wooclap to ask multiple-choice questions, polls, and ask students to locate areas on images. Use the messaging feature to gather and display messages from participants. Wooclap also features options for add-ins to include PowerPoint Slides, Google Slides, PDF's, and more. Free Wooclap accounts allow users two questions for up to 1,000 students; however, it is free for educators in K12 by following the directions found here. Create an account to begin, then add an event. Choose the type of activity from the provided options such as a poll, open-ended question, word cloud, and more. Share your activity using the event code or link created for it.

Use Wooclap to engage students in learning while gathering feedback in real-time. Start a lesson by asking students to respond to a prompt about the upcoming information. For example, at the beginning of a math lesson on geometric shapes, share a picture, and ask students to share a thought on what they see in the image. Zight (formerly known as CloudApp) is a screen recording tool with features for collaboration and integration with other cloud-based tools. After downloading Zight, follow the directions to install and use it on your device. Use the included tools to trim and cut videos or create GIFs. When finished, save and generate a link to your clipboard. Other features include the ability to do real-time annotations while you are recording your screen and editing tools to trim and cut recordings. Zight integrates with Slack, Microsoft Teams, and others. Free accounts offer one user up to twenty-five items with ninety-second recording times.

Download and use Zight in many ways in all classrooms. Make screen recordings to share how-to information on navigating websites. Use the annotation tools to highlight important information and the location of website tools. Have students use Zight to share their screens when facing difficulty using sites. Create collections of videos for students to access, including instructions for logging in to various websites, searching effectively, or sharing information digitally. Use the interactive games found at Wordwall to use at computer stations or home to practice skills or prepare for upcoming quizzes and tests. Use the embed code to add your games onto your class website for easy student access. Instead of asking students to memorize dates or events, help them by organizing the information into common features. For example, during a Civil War unit, group together events taking place in different cities to help provide context for students. Include a link to your quizzes on your class webpage or blog for students to practice at any time using the URL or embed code. Enhance technology use and learning by having students create their own Z-A quizzes to share with peers when studying for tests or use as an introduction with class presentations. Trace is a simple to use photo editing tool that instantly removes backgrounds from images and changes backgrounds. After creating an account, upload your photo, and Trace removes the background and leaves the image's main focus. Download the edited image as a PNG file or continue through the additional options to add a new color background, upload a new image for the background, use one of Trace's background images, or edit using the crop tool. When finished, download your image to your device.

Bookmark this site for many classroom uses. Combine your downloaded image with others using a variety of tools, including Google Slides. Choose a background image of a city being studied, a different time, or in a far-away setting like the moon, then place your student image on top. Resize the image to fit the scene. Include this image as a starter for class projects. Use images on top of book covers for book talks, create images for story characters and heroes, or use for weather reports.
