Narakeet offers text-to-speech creation with options for choices of over 500 realistic-sounding voices. Registration is not required; upload your script to begin. Choices include the design of text-to-speech audio or video from a PowerPoint presentation. After making your selection, take advantage of the available choices to select a language and voice. Then, either upload a file, copy and paste text when creating an audio file, or upload your PowerPoint presentation to create a video. When finished, download the converted file to your device. Free accounts offer you up to twenty projects with maximum uploaded file sizes of up to 10MB. Other restrictions apply to free accounts; this information is available on the pricing page.

Easily design and share comic strips using one of the many templates available from Adobe Express. Select any shared templates on the home page to begin, or sign in to your Adobe Express account and select comic strips from the template options. Searching through the templates is most accessible by viewing only free designs. After choosing a template, use the dashboard to add and modify the contents of the comic strip. Options include changing backgrounds, adding text and images, adding shapes, and much more. When finished, download your design as a JPG, PNG, or PDF document. Then, use the publish option to create a link, share to Google Classroom or Teams, or choose from other social media sharing options.

Engage students by using the templates to display the day's vocabulary word, the math puzzle of the week, or a concept your students are learning in social studies or science, for example. Have students create comic strips for dialog-writing lessons, summarizing, predicting, and retelling stories. Use comic strips for literature responses. For pre-reading students, create a comic of pictures and tell the story based on the pictures/scenes. It's a good idea to require students to create a rough draft of their comic using Printable Comic Strip Templates, reviewed here. Make a class book of the comics created throughout the year. That book is likely to become a class favorite! Use comics to show the sequencing of events. For example, when studying characterization, they create a dialog to show (not tell) about a character. World language and ENL/ESL teachers can assign students to create dialog strips as an alternative to a formal assessment. Convert and download YouTube videos to any device using the Free Video Downloader Online. First, find and copy the video link on the URL of your web browser (this is different than copying the link to share - you want to see the word "watch" in the link you copy). Next, click download to begin saving to your device, then choose from many different options for the type and size of the file to download. Additional download options include saving as an MP3, JPG thumbnail, or caption. For the final step, a preview will appear after selecting an option for download; pick the three dots in the video preview and choose the option to download. Then, view the download videos on your current media player, such as QuickTime.

Learn about ten critical historical events as an investigative journalist using this interactive site created for middle and high school students. The events, starting in the 1760s and the early republic, continue to gender equality from the 1850s to the present. Each activity includes primary sources that provide perspective on how these cultural events affected civic life. Begin each activity with an introduction that includes an overview, essential questions, and information about relevant journalists during that period. Next, begin the investigation by examining primary sources and completing the included social media activities. The final portion of each event looks at the outcome reported by journalists and offers an opportunity for users to create their own front-page news story. Educator Guides provide guidance for using these interactives and their correlation to national standards. Registration isn't required; however, it is highly recommended as it allows you to complete case study questions within the site and save progress. If your district blocks YouTube, then the videos may not be viewable.

This site is a must-have for middle and high school social studies teachers. Allow several days for students to complete individual case studies; if time is an issue, assign portions of a case instead of completing the entire activity. Another option is to share a case study as an ongoing flipped learning activity to complete over two or more weeks or as a supplement for gifted students to use as an independent learning activity. If assigning as a long-term activity, ensure students complete the registration and save their work. This site states that it is "the world's largest public domain media search engine" and provides access to millions of public domain objects to view and download. Use Picryl to search for specific items such as Abraham Lincoln or Abraham Lincoln's papers. Sort information to view just text, images, or collections. Additional filters allow you to narrow down the time frame to include or select from suggested tags. Picryl also offers over 2,000 collections featuring various topics that range from lighthouses to glassblowing. After choosing an item, use the download link to save it to your device and access information to credit the source. Registration isn't required; however, it provides access to source URL information and allows you to create collections from resources found on Picryl.

Password Folder allows Windows users to create password-protected folders on their PCs using downloadable software tools. Once downloaded and installed, add a password to protect any folder in three clicks. Begin by selecting the file to download to your device and following the installation and setup directions. Once installed, select any folder and add a password; protected folders turn red and then display a lock icon to indicate they are locked. To open a protected folder, click open as usual and enter the password. Use different passwords for each folder, or select the "One password for all folders" option to lock multiple folders with one password.

For more in-depth lessons, break down the information into smaller pieces and include them in your current research project lessons. Use the Wheel of Life to create a visual image for evaluating historical and literary characters. The wheel offers up to eight categories to edit and use in evaluations. Begin with the included examples, such as citizenship, health, and joy, or click on any category titles to change them to fit your needs. After identifying categories, use the slider bars to rate your character in each category using a scale of 1 to 10. As ratings are assigned, the display on the wheel adjusts to reflect the rating and matches the color on the slider bar. Next, use the text boxes on the right side of the screen to give your wheel a title and explain each of the choices made. When finished, save or print your Wheel of Life.

The Wheel of Life template is an interesting addition to current classroom resources for evaluating literary or historical characters. Ask students to share their thoughts on the essential characteristics to include when assessing characters and ask them to justify their inclusions. Straw.Page is a website creation tool and blogging platform that works on any device, even phones. No registration is required to begin creating using themes or from a blank page. Begin by selecting the Get Started for Free button, then browse through the included templates. After choosing a template, follow the tutorial to learn about features available on Straw.Page. When finished, publish your page by adding your email and a password and creating your unique URL to share with viewers. The free option allows you to post two sites that include up to five pages each.

Scroll through the page to find and access information about each class. The Table of Contents for each topic provides information and links divided by chapter or module. Select individual courses or complete each course in the order provided. Many topics also include practice activities.

Bookmark Quillbot as a supplement to your current curricular materials and a resource for students to use for practice and remediation in writing skills. The courses also provide practice and instruction for use with English Language Learners. Share with college-bound students to use in preparation for college-level courses. Include a link to Quillbot's resources on your class webpage for easy access anytime. Consider curating resources for students using Wakelet, reviewed here, for sharing a collection that includes commonly-used lessons. Find and assign individual topics to students or classes to address specific areas that need additional instruction. For example, when students struggle with the proper use of commas, give and discuss any of the activities found on Quillbot that provide instruction and practice. As students make revisions, ask them to share before and after changes in the product of their writing. For example, when working with Google Docs, ask students to submit an original draft and the finished product and reflect upon the changes and revisions made. Download free slide templates for Google Slides and PowerPoint from Slidesgo. Free accounts offer up to ten monthly downloads after registration on the site. Find templates in many different ways, use a keyword search, sort by color, choose from recent and popular downloads, or select categories, including education templates. After selecting a template, click on the link to the version for your download. When choosing a Google Slideshow, Slidego prompts you to copy the document into your Google Drive. Powerpoint slides download to your device. Another option allows you to share a template directly to Google Classroom. A new feature of Slidesgo is the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Presentation Maker. Just type in your description.
