Capture the Hearts of Struggling Learners with Digital Storytelling

Session Description:

Struggling readers and writers lack passion for literacy. Using digital storytelling inspires reluctant readers and writers, incorporates different intelligences and creates emotional connections. Speaking and listening activities naturally develop to build joy in literacy.

Purpose & Objectives:

As a result of the presentation, participants will:

    • Analyze student examples of digital storytelling;
    • Have graphic organizers to support the steps of digital storytelling projects;
    • Identify the steps in the process of a digital storytelling project designed to meet the needs of different learners; and
    • Be able to design instructional literacy activities to meet the needs of diverse learners by using digital storytelling to meet and exceed literacy standards.
