This recording of an OK2Ask online professional development session from August 2017, opens in Adobe Connect. Learn how to infuse Computational Thinking into your classroom activities across all core content areas. Computational Thinking prepares students to understand how to use today's digital tools to help solve tomorrow's problems. Most teachers are already teaching elements of Computational Thinking without knowing it. This workshop will help participants understand the fundamental tenets of Computational Thinking, most notably, how Computational Thinking combines critical thinking skills with the power of computing to make decisions or find solutions. Participants will learn strategies to incorporate computational thinking into classroom activities, brainstorm ideas with other educators for using those strategies in their content area, and begin planning a lesson. This session is for teachers at ALL technology comfort levels. As a result of this session teachers will: 1. Learn the fundamentals of Computational Thinking; 2. Explore activities and resources that promote Computational Thinking; and 3. Plan for the use of Computational Thinking in the classroom.

You can easily Flip your classroom with Mix while tracking students' understanding. Remember, it's OK2Ask'®. This session is for teachers at INTERMEDIATE technology comfort levels. As a result of this session teachers will: (1) Learn the basic functions of Microsoft Mix; (2) Explore three different ways to use Microsoft Mix in the classroom; and (3) Plan for the use of Microsoft Mix in the classroom.

Note: You must attend this session on a laptop or desktop computer that has a full version of Microsoft PowerPoint installed. Additionally, participants MUST download and install the free Office Mix add-in before the session. You will not be able to CREATE Office Mix learning objects on an Android or Apple tablet or via Office 365. You can access and use them on those devices but not create them.

In this session, participants will explore the basics of setting up a classroom or student Google Site. This will include pages for a welcome message, calendar, files, links, pictures, announcements (blog) page, and more. Easily move your current information to Google Sites, begin your own Site, or learn what Google Sites is all about. Remember, it's OK2Ask'®. This session is for teachers at INTERMEDIATE technology comfort levels. As a result of this session teachers will: (1) Identify the basic pages and features in Google Sites; (2) Become familiar with the tools for creating a Site of their own; and (3) Explore the possible uses of Google Sites in the classroom or with their students.

Use OpenStax textbooks to dig deeper into core subjects such as math, science, and social studies. Use materials to differentiate instruction based on student abilities and interests. If your current textbooks are older, find newer books on OpenStax and adopt them for your curriculum. Take advantage of the search feature of online books to find supplemental material for your current instruction. Find teaching materials for gifted students using OpenStax textbooks.
