Tuesday, January 29, 2019 ⬥ 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Presented by Katy Garvey

Session Description:

This workshop will present information on how to use technology and sound instructional methodology to implement a personalized approach to a faculty/staff meeting. Your staff is sure to receive the same information, but why not let them choose content delivery and learning path? Let’s model this and take our teachers through an engaging faculty meeting experience as we support our them in their professional learning journey. Through a personalized approach to a faculty meeting, staff will be involved in the learning process and reflective on their instructional practices.

Purpose:

Making a learning environment accessible for everyone is critical to a successful inclusive classroom. Today’s school staff are diverse learners with different learning styles.  Combine that with the fact that we know the research around learning tells us that “one shot professional development” does not change instructional practices. How much more powerful would it be if our teacher learners could design their own professional development plan that aligns with school and district goals? We must begin to shift the professional development paradigm to create empowered educators.

Objectives:
    • Identify the importance of personalized professional development
    • Develop our “why” for personalized professional development
    • Engage in a personalized professional development simulation
    • Identify next steps for implementation and creating a culture of innovation
