Take Your Lessons to the Edge
The TeachersFirst Edge is where we share tools that go beyond basic content and allow you to create. This week we feature tools that have been recently added to our Edge collection! Discover tools to construct, edit, and share videos; generate guided reading projects; and evaluate online articles.
Grades 6-12
Fiskkit
Think of Fiskkit as your virtual "red pen" for online content. Use it to markup, share, discuss, and evaluate online articles. Simply copy and paste the URL into the site to be able to rate or tag sentences and share with others for their evaluation.
Grades 3-12
Read Ahead
Read Ahead helps you create a guided reading presentation for any text. Highlight critical components of a passage, identify key words or phrases, add a vocabulary list, or use the site's Smart Skimmer to automatically select these items.
Grades 6-12
Soundcite
Combine audio with text to bring student work to life. Soundcite allows you to easily embed audio directly into portions of text for use on a blog or website. Helpful tips for how to add the audio clips to your content are provided.
Grades K-12
Headliner
Personalize your social media content with images, text animation, clip audio, video, and more. Choose from several templates or go straight to the video editor to begin creating your own project.
Gaming = Engaging
Game-Based Learning offers a dynamic way to engage learners of all ages. Many of these tools also help educators assess learning and understanding. Below you will find tools to build your own original activities, to develop a unique assessment tool, and to use the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to make review time more fun!
Grades K-12
Game Builder
Game Builder offers both ready-to-go games and templates for building custom digital games. Build games to introduce new content. Or, challenge students to create games to help them review what they have learned.
Grades 4-12
Z-A Quiz Generator
Test students' knowledge of related items with this fun quiz game. Use sets of common terms or elements (capitals, incorrect use of a comma, etc.) to create rounds of play, divide the class into teams and GO! The game is reminiscent of Wheel of Fortune.
Grades 6-12
Quillionz
Hone the power of AI to generate quizzes, questions, review games, and assessments. Quillionz creates a variety of questions from your content and you select the ones you want to use. Choose from multiple choice, short response, recall, and more.
The Power of Digital Storytelling
Take your students on a writing journey with three powerful digital tools for creating compelling and engaging stories. Explore a set of integrated writing tools, start writing a novel, or build fantasy universes with unlimited characters, stories, and items.
Grades 6-12
Hiveword
Honor writing in your classroom with these integrated writing tools. The Novel Organizer helps to organize characters, setting, and plotlines. Find additional tools with the random character name and location generators. Don't miss the articles to share.
Grades 6-12
Edward
Stop dreaming and start writing! This handy app helps writers manage and organize any writing project. Choose a template (novel, script, essay or blank) and use the dashboard to plan, outline, analyze, and write.
Grades 8-12
Notebook.ai
Enter a fantasy world for writers. Build your universe, characters, world, creatures, governments, and more. The character builder helps you to organize characters' history, looks, and social profile. Registration is required for full access.
