Make a splash with visual learners by starting class with artifacts from an era displayed on your projector or interactive whiteboard. Explore primary sources and historic texts as part of a Common Core literacy program cooperating among English, reading, and history teachers. Have your students sign up to enjoy access to all the resources. Enhance learning by challenging cooperative learning groups to choose a specific historical time period and become "experts." Have the groups create presentations to share with the class about what they learn. This site offers lots of information on money management for students of all ages, including college students. Click on the Teach tab at the top and select your grade level to find lesson plans, curriculum ideas, classroom resources, and more. The lesson plans include a slide presentation for the lesson (also in PDF format) and student activities. Though some look gray as if they aren't accessible, they are, so just click or double click on them and they will be downloaded to your computer. Help high school students succeed financially after high school with the 22 free, standards-aligned lessons that this site has revamped for grades 9-12. This section includes student-centered activities, research projects, discussion points, and resources.
Clicking on the Play tab will display many games at different grade levels. Especially interesting for high school and college students will be the Financial Football, reviewed here.

Take advantage of the FREE lesson plans to teach your students about money and the economy. Use the free, standards-aligned lessons in sequence or on an individual basis. If financial literacy is not part of your Common Core Standards for math, think about making the activities and/or games a weekly center or activity on the computers in your classroom or the school computer lab. Give students the chance to write a novel, either individually or as a group, by participating in this annual event. Register for a free account, fill in your profile, go to your dashboard, and start creating your classes; yes, you can have more than one class! Give your students the unique code for their class (the site also provides a Website Permission Form for districts requiring consent from student families). Click the "How it Works" tab at the top and slide down to "For Educators" to get complete instructions for the challenges and more. By its own admission, this is about quantity, not quality, but the idea is to get words on paper. Be sure to check out all of the tabs at the top; there is a wealth of information and resources for teachers, students, and families. All of the novel work students do remain the author's property, so there's no problem with ownership. You do have to register for an account (student or teacher), but it is free.

In addition to selecting games by math concept, use the grade level links to choose games appropriate for first through sixth grade. Many, but not all, activities include correlations to Common Core Math Standards. Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of the home page to find a series of video explanations of math topics. What a fantastic website to include in your classroom web page and newsletter. All of these activities are perfect for an interactive whiteboard or projector. Share a link to games and activities for students to play during math centers. This is an excellent resource for gifted students. The activities could also be used for enrichment, additional practice, and re-teaching skills. Use these activities for students to share as part of their digital portfolio by asking students to share their reflections and tips on learning new concepts. MathGames is perfect for practice with many different math concepts. Include a link to games on your class website or classroom computers. Be sure to share games with parents for play at home. Take advantage of the free registration to register your class to follow student progress and challenge students to increase scores. Ask students to replace paper and pen and write blog entries sharing their learning and understanding for each game using Telegra.ph, reviewed here. This blog creator requires no registration. If you are teaching younger students and looking for an easy way to integrate technology and check for understanding, challenge your students to create a blog using edublogs, reviewed here. Take this a step further, redefining learning and challenge students to pick the game they learned the most from and make a feature video about it using Adobe Express Video Maker, reviewed here.
