App Smashing is the process of using multiple apps or tools to create a final product or project. Join us to learn about this concept and how to use Wakelet - a robust curation and digital storytelling tool - in an app smash. Participants will discover the benefits of app smashing in the classroom, explore examples, learn about five tools that can be smashed with Wakelet, then create their own app smash! As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the concept and benefits of app smashing; 2. Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to create an app smash using Wakelet; and 3. Begin planning to use a Wakelet app smash in an instructional setting. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Conker.ai is an online platform that can help teachers create online quizzes for students of all grades. Teachers can easily customize quizzes based on the topic, the number of questions, and the difficulty level. Questions can be multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, or a combination of both. Quizzes can be completed online using an access code or exported to a Google form. First, you must create an account with Google, which requires you to give access to your Google Drive.

In the Classroom

Teachers can input relevant topics or subjects for their students, select a suitable grade level, and specify the number of questions needed. Many different output languages make this an excellent resource for world language teachers. For example, enter a short reading passage of up to 1,200 words and generate questions from the selection in just a few minutes! You can also use your questions to create interactive activities or games using sites such as Nearpod or Kahoot that promote student engagement and enhance their learning experience.

ClassPoint integrates with PowerPoint and Windows operating systems using presentation tools, interactive quiz questions, and a gamified reward system. Use the presentation tools to highlight information, add annotations, open a whiteboard, and more. Turn your slides into interactive questions to share with students and receive immediate feedback through the responses. Use the rewards option to give or take away stars to students based on your preferences; students move through levels to receive badges by earning rewards. Download ClassPoint to your Windows device by following the directions and prompts provided. Free accounts offer up to a twenty-five-student class size, five questions per PowerPoint, three draggable objects, three saved classes, and basic gamification. ClassPoint is not available for MacOS devices at the time of this review; however, it is being looked at as an option, so Mac users might want to check back to see if it becomes available.

Interested in a simple yet powerful tool that allows you and your students to create and share engaging interactive reports, presentations, assignments, and projects? This session will introduce Sway, a free digital storytelling and presentation app that is accessible on any device. Add text and pictures, embed or hyperlink relevant content, then watch Sway do the rest. Learn the basics in minutes and create projects focusing on content rather than bells and whistles. Leave this session with actionable ideas for the classroom. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn basic use of Sway; 2. Explore three different ways to use Sway in the classroom; and 3. Plan for using Sway in your learning environment. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Personalizing instruction doesn't have to be complicated. Using an instructional playlist is a simple way to honor student voice and choice while structuring your students' independent work. This session will help you create playlists that integrate multiple types of activities while using incremental checkpoints. Of all the tools you can put in your blended learning toolkit, the playlist is one you don't want to miss! As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Each stop along the way adds to student comprehension as they explore the information, images, and videos embedded in the map. Use Reading Treks in your lessons to give your students context for the stories they are reading. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand how to use Reading Treks in the classroom; 2. Learn how Reading Treks are created; and 3. Plan a new Reading Trek you will create for your instructional setting. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
