Take advantage of the free worksheets on Math Salamander for use with students needing additional practice, to send home when parents request additional work, or to keep in your substitute folder for quick practice activities. Don't miss this incredible wealth of math information! Find activities divided up by grade level, including instructional videos. Use the instructional videos to learn the skills required for each practice. Choose Kindergarten through sixth grade by clicking the Practice button. Then, pick a particular skill at that grade level. Each skill (such as Addition, Subtraction, Time, Fractions, Measures, etc.) has multiple practice activities that are rated by difficulty with stars. Increase the difficulty by starting with one-star items and working towards the five-star items. Click on instructional video if you get stuck to view a screencast video of how to solve the problems. These videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, the videos may not be viewable. You could always view the videos at home and bring them to class "on a stick" to share. Use a tool such as KeepVid, reviewed here, to download the videos from YouTube.

Create a classroom account. Use MobyMax during centers, for nightly homework, or computer lab time. Share with parents as an excellent resource for practicing math, reading, writing, grammar, science, and vocabulary skills at home. Use the pre-testing features at the beginning of the school year to get students started at the correct levels. Use this tool to differentiate for all students. Your gifted students can pretest out of material already learned and receive activities and instruction at their individual level. Be sure to bookmark this site to use with all levels of students.

Activities include simple instructions for play and offer immediate feedback on content. This website is pretty heavy on the advertisements, but worth the "annoyance." Note: The videos embedded on this site are NOT created by kidsmathgames and are hosted on YouTube. They come from various sources. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable. You could always view the videos at home and bring them to class "on a stick" to share. Use a tool such as KeepVid reviewed here to download the videos from YouTube.

If you have computer stations, you may want to set up different areas of this program to allow students practice time after instruction. Begin by choosing from topics such as Reading, Math, Classroom Management, or Seasonal. Within each topic find a list of lessons or activities. Look under Classroom Management to find a link to Common Core "I Can" printables, reading logs, and checklists for grades K-5. Choose from different subjects for each checklist along with the option of borderless design or clip art poster. Don't let the juvenile look of this site or the abundance of advertising fool you. There are a lot of wonderful resources to be found with just a little bit of searching!

This blog was created by an experienced teacher implementing Guided Math in a multi-age classroom so many items are a result of that need. The Getting Started section contains practical step-by-step information for setting up Guided Math. The Stations portion of the site describes a schedule and rotation plans for groups and centers. Another portion of the site contains math games and card games to be used at centers. If you are in a multi-age setting (or simply have a wide range of skill levels in your classroom), be sure to check out that portion of the blog for suggestions on getting started and daily scheduling.

This easy to use site includes fact practice for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Choose the operation, difficulty level, timed or not, the specific amount of time, and horizontal or vertical presentation of problems. Upon completion of 30 problems, a final tally lists your name, date, timed or untimed, number of problems answered correct, incorrect, or skipped. Print this tally using the print button on the screen. Choose the "go" button to view incorrect problems to print or practice.

The interactives portion of the site contains activities, calculators, flash cards, and lessons for grade levels K-8. Be sure to check out the lessons, which are actually animated slide shows containing several fraction lessons. Resources have also been aligned to Common Core Standards. Choose a grade to find skills and related resources. Use the links at the top of each page to search for printables, interactives, grade level activities, and more. The advertisements on this site can be rather distracting, but the content is worth the distractions.

Find math advice, tips, ideas, games, and e-books to help bring math alive. Activities focus on two age groups, 3 - 5 and 5 - 7. The free e-books have math themes. The site's origin is British, so the "maths" curriculum or terms may be slightly different from the U.S. But numbers are still numbers! The standards are from the U.K. Don't miss the "jargon busters" under the Expert Help menu for parents to understand the math terms teachers may use. Although the site has links to items for sale, there is enough free material to be worthwhile. On some of the interactives you must click the "mark it" check mark to see if your answer is correct or not.
