As the title indicates, this site provides random prompts and suggestions for art projects. Two dropdown boxes provide options for participants. The first box offers a choice to generate one, five, or ten prompts. The other dropdown includes three prompt options: simple, elaborate, or a combination. After making choices, select the blue button to Get Prompts. Some prompts include a link to Wikipedia for further clarification, be sure to read the author's suggestion for those that lead to artistic depictions of the human body.

Use this generator to create and print ideas for projects to include in an art center. Use the generator for more than art project ideas, select statements that correspond to stories you are reading, science topics, or social studies events. Include ideas in your makerspace for students to create items based on the opinions provided by the generator. Include the ideas generated for students to use with creative writing projects. Ask them to share their writing project using tools found at Adobe Creative Cloud Express, reviewed here, to create videos, graphic designs, or presentations. Instead of relying on a generator, use this as an example, then ask students to develop a bank of story ideas for classroom use. It is also helpful to add a short tutorial for some games to get students started, as most games do not include instructions. Resources include lessons for grades K-8 that focus on learning about indigenous people through integrating the arts with science, social studies, and language arts. Animated Drawing is a nifty online tool that incorporates a four-step process to bring life to simple character drawings. Use the sample drawings to get an overview of the example images. Begin by following the initial checklist that provides guidelines for successful use, including giving a drawing of one character on a white, well-lit background. When ready, upload your photo and follow the prompts to resize, separate, and find the character joints. The final step offers choices to change the motions of your character to dancing, walking, jumping, or funny. Finally, use the share icon to download the image as an mp4 file, share it to social media sites, or copy a link to the page with your animated image.

Search information on the site in several ways, such as using a keyword or searching by ISBN, materials, or members. Use the dropdown box labeled "Browse" at the top of the page to conduct a more focused search by grade level, content, type of material, and mobile platform. All available content includes clickable peer reviews and user ratings with an overview of the material, recommended uses, and target student population. Registration isn't required; however, it allows you to bookmark and save topics. In addition, registration offers access to Merlot's Content Builder (website maker) and a Course ePortfolio.

Are you looking for some great STEAM projects to do in your classroom? Instructables.com has a curated collection of STEAM projects complete with step-by-step directions, photos, and tips for completion. Some even have video clips to help with the directions. Projects range in age level from lower elementary to high school. The contributor, The Oakland Toy Lab, designed everything with accessibility in mind. Each project can be created with widely available and relatively low-cost materials. In addition, teachers can create a free account to download printable PDFs of step-by-step directions of each activity.
Be aware that this collection is posted as a part of a larger website of community-contributed content, so some Instructables may not be appropriate for a school environment.

Square Dancing is considered a uniquely American dance form, although it has strong roots in 17th Century English and French dance forms. This lesson for grades 3-5 uses the inquiry process to introduce students to square dancing and guide them through completing a "Kids Guide to Square Dancing." As a final project, groups of students create an instructional video and perform a square dance for their peers. The lesson includes links to videos, supporting lessons, and suggestions for making the instructional video presentation. The videos are hosted on YouTube. Use this lesson as an alternative to typical informational writing prompts. Engage students in learning about square dance as you introduce the first activity that asks students to share what they know about square dancing using an interactive whiteboard tool such as IdeaBoardz, reviewed here. For example, create a board with two sections - use one section for students to share what they know and the second section for sharing what they would like to learn. Use Padlet, reviewed here, to organize resources for students to use when researching the guide to square dancing. This lesson provides students with an understanding of traditional Latin dance styles using videos and comparisons to elements of dance using standard terminology. The study focuses on different types of dance that include salsa, mambo, merengue, rumba, cha-cha, bachata, and samba. In addition, activities introduce the geography behind the dances and provide an introduction to the history behind the dance styles. As a final activity, student groups select a country and dance style to research and present to their peers. The videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable.

In the Classroom
Use the ideas found in this lesson to incorporate dance into your lessons that feature the Caribbean or South American countries. For example, when studying the history of Cuba, include ideas from this lesson and additional information about the dances that originated in the country to help students engage in a deeper understanding of the culture. As students share their research and presentations, provide them with various options to share their learning.
