There is no email requirement for converting files. Choose your converter to begin: Audio, Video, Ebook, Image, Document, Archive, or Hash. Use the drop box to choose the target format for your file. Upload or add the url for conversion. Also choose from options such as image quality, size, color, and enhancements. Click convert file, then wait for completion. Online-Convert stores your file for 24 hours and up to 10 downloads.

Making a "derivative work" from someone else's pdf handout should include a printed credit within the new document, giving credit for the original source, Ex. "Adapted from a handout by xxx available at www.theoriginalhandout.pdf." Such derivative use should only be done when the original copyright permits it, such as using materials that grant permission for classroom use. Be sure to give proper credit for videos and other files you save locally. Have students create an avatar that looks like them to use as a profile picture for a blog or website. Challenge students to create images of how they picture characters in books. Share the images with reading groups and classmates to compare. Have students create an image for a character including text boxes of character traits or the character's thoughts using a tool such as Google Drawings, reviewed here. Google Drawings allows you to annotate an image with links to videos, text, websites, and more. Create an talking avatar using a tool such as Blabberize, reviewed here. The avatar could be a historical figure, book character, narrator, or represent the student. Use this tool together with emotional support or autistic support students to create faces that express certain feelings. Use the word labels to identify the feelings.

Discover a huge collection of interactive illustrations to help explain complex concepts in science, technology, art, math, and a range of other topics. Use these activities to create interactive visualizations. There are thousands of Mathematica Demonstrations. A demonstration is a Mathematica notebook that takes advantage of Mathematica's manipulate command. Use the manipulate command to create sliders or buttons or check boxes to change the values of parameters in the displays in the demonstration. The result is you control the animation. View demonstrations on topics ranging from odd and even numbers to odd and even functions, fractions to fractals, and from linear functions to linear algebra and linear programming. In addition to mathematical topics, there are demonstrations illustrating the time in different cities around the world, global demographic information, the solar system, and art and music concepts. You need to download the Wolfram CDF player to use and interact with the demonstrations.

Challenge students to create a talking avatar using a photo or other image (legally permitted for reproduction). Use avatars to explain activities performed using a Demonstration. The beauty of the demonstrations is that it allows students to manipulate and "play" to view the impact of changes made, allowing many opportunities for classroom discussion. Building bibliographies drives us all crazy. Comma before the parenthesis, or after? CiteThisForMe allows you to enter the relevant information you want to cite and download a finished bibliography in MLA, APA, or Harvard styles. Turabian is coming soon, according to the site. You can either enter all the sources at once and complete the task at one sitting or save your bibliography-in-progress on your computer for seven days. You can also upgrade to a paid subscription that saves your sources indefinitely, allows you to work on more than one project at a time, and saves your work to the cloud where it can be accessed from any computer.

In the Classroom
A great site to recommend to students for use at home to build properly constructed citations. The free version is limited in the information saved to the user's computer for only seven days, so it would not work well for classroom use where students use public computers. Sharing screen shots or images online just became easy and hassle free! If you have ever had a problem with any program, the support people always seem to ask you to send a screen shot (Command-shift-4 on a Mac or FN [Function key]+ PRTSC [print screen] on a PC). That requires several steps after you take the screenshot! With Snag.gy, you can simplify to a single copy/paste. Once you have created your screen shot share it through Snag.gy by URL, Twitter, Facebook, Stumble Upon, and a few other social networks. You can also share any image on the web instantly, such as a digital picture.

When teaching your students a new Internet program, consider taking a series of screen shots to post on your blog, wiki, or teacher page to guide students through the steps.
