Enlighten AI is a free grading and feedback site that allows teachers to give specific, actionable, and timely feedback to their students. The data collected can also be used to drive instruction with summary reports. Enlighten AI will also create rubrics, or teachers can use their own rubrics. Rubrics created can be quick rubrics that just give the total points or more advanced ones. All rubrics can be edited, duplicated, and archived, as well as reusable past rubrics. Feedback to students can be given individually or in bulk via a PDF or email. For Enlighten AI to generate your teaching approach to feedback, teachers will have to provide feedback and responses in the first assignments created, and Enlighten AI will adapt to teachers' grading styles and feedback.
Enlighten Al can support grading for Google Documents submitted via Google Classroom, and teachers can also send assignments via Enlighten AI by having students sign in via a code or link. Enlighten AI is available in Spanish.

Use the included tools to change the color of your drawing tool; Canvas contains several tools for drawing, including colored pencils and chalk. If desired, save completed designs as PNG images or use the share options to share on social media, messaging, or other apps. Chromebooks include a quick share option to copy and paste the image to your chosen location.

Create an account to begin, then add an assignment that includes grade level, background information, and the essay prompt. Next, choose from available rubrics or design your own. Upload up to 40 student documents to grade. Owler AI accepts PDFs, DOCx, and text files and submits them to receive feedback. When complete, Owler AI explains the score received, suggestions for improvement, and follow-up questions that can be shared using the provided link. As always, when using AI tools, it is important to remember that they aid teachers; however, they don't replace personalized teacher feedback.

In the Classroom
Hold a classroom competition based on a recent Grammar Girl video. Students compete in teams to answer correctly and as quickly as possible. Assign students to become "Grammar Detectives" throughout the week. Using the rules learned from Grammar Girl, students must hunt for and document grammar mistakes in their reading materials, social media posts, or advertisements. Connections lets players create personalized "custom" versions of the New York Times' Connections game. The game's goal is to identify the four words in four categories with connections shared in a 16-word grid. Create your custom activity using the tools to add a title for each category and four clues in each category. If desired, drag and drop categories to order them by difficulty level. When complete, click submit and share the game using the provided URL.

In the Classroom
Use Connections as an engaging tool for students to study and discuss connections between words. Create a custom game introducing new vocabulary for science and social studies units. For example, when teaching about US presidents, add categories with the presidents' last names, first names, wives' names, and birthplaces. In science, create categories for students to categorize animals by habitats or class of animal. Students can work in teams to describe words or phrases related to the plays without using certain "taboo" words. Have students select a scene from one of Shakespeare's plays and rewrite it in modern language. Many discussion questions and lesson plans can be downloaded in PDF format. While the majority of links within the lesson plans are working, a few give an error message.

Save this site as a favorite and use it as a resource in a literature class. Before introducing a new book to the class, check this site first for information under the author's heading. There you'll find lesson plans, resources, activities, etc. Great for teachers using a new novel or in need of some fresh ideas on teaching an old lesson.
