Finding and implementing engaging lessons is difficult and time-consuming; Ditch That Textbook offers practical teaching ideas that adapt quickly to all content and grade levels. There are three main areas of the site to search for resources - the Blog, Google Ideas, and Resources. Blog content includes suggestions for feedback, gamifying classrooms, and sources for finding free content. Use the keyword search to look for specific information. The Google Ideas section shares material for all things Google, including using Chromebooks. Scroll down the page to find ideas sorted by Google tools and links to videos, templates, and related blog posts. Select the Resources link to find an abundance of free templates, how-to videos, and tools for remote learning. Be sure to dig around at length; there is much more available on this site, including a handful of free online courses for educators. The videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable.

Engage students and get them excited to jump into learning with tech tools to support direct instruction for vocabulary. Learn to implement direct instruction based on Marzano's strategies to expand vocabulary in all subject areas and increase success in school and on achievement tests. Using the six-step approach, we'll explore tech tools to help bring vocabulary from short-term memory into long-term memory. Discover how to choose tech tools you can use to increase student collaboration and provide data for formative assessments. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Review Marzano's strategies for vocabulary instruction; 2. Explore tools for vocabulary instruction; and 3. Understand how to use tech tools to create formative assessments for vocabulary. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

No registration is required; however, sign up with your email to receive the Teaching with TEACHFLIX ebook to download, which includes suggestions and activities to use with videos. gotLearning is a platform for students and teachers to discuss and share student learning and educational goals. Upload documents, add videos, or scan items to begin the collaborative process. Documents open up inside a learning conversation that offers several options for creating ongoing discussions and feedback between teachers and students. Students use the app to scan and upload work to the platform. Use the educator dashboard to share and monitor assignments and to differentiate work that fits the needs of students easily. The free option for the school year 2022-2023 includes adding up to eight classes and 150 students within an account and integrates easily with Google Classroom.

Password Folder allows Windows users to create password-protected folders on their PCs using downloadable software tools. Once downloaded and installed, add a password to protect any folder in three clicks. Begin by selecting the file to download to your device and following the installation and setup directions. Once installed, select any folder and add a password; protected folders turn red and then display a lock icon to indicate they are locked. To open a protected folder, click open as usual and enter the password. Use different passwords for each folder, or select the "One password for all folders" option to lock multiple folders with one password.

When rolling dice, are you lucky, or are probability and statistics coming into play? This dice game allows players to explore different outcomes when increasing or decreasing the number of dice rolls. First, select the number of rolls to begin, then choose the link to roll two dice. Chances displays a graph showing the resulting outcome and a list of all the different combinations rolled.

Use Chances as an engaging way to introduce students to probability and statistics. Ask them to predict outcomes when completing a small number of dice rolls vs. a larger number. Enhance learning by asking students to conduct their exploration using real dice or virtual dice found at Virtual Manipulatives, reviewed here. Use different amounts of dice as part of the exploration to see how the number of dice affects the different possible outcomes. Convert documents to PDF from many different formats or change a PDF into another form using drag-and-drop features or uploading from your device. Choose options from the most widespread uses or scroll further down the page to view all options. Select your desired tool, then follow the prompts to upload your document. Once the document uploads, choose from options such as quality preferred, then select the link to convert your file. When complete, download the new file to your device or select the dropdown box to choose from other options, such as uploading to Dropbox or Google Drive. PDF Converter also offers a Chrome extension that provides instant access to all the tools when using your Chrome browser.

There are many ways you can use screencasts to support instruction: giving activity instructions to students, helping parents support students who are struggling with an assignment, or even allowing students to make their thinking visible. Screencastify can facilitate all of these and more. Join us to learn how you can put this tool to work for your students. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn basic use of Screencastify; 2. Explore three ways to use screencasts in your classroom; and 3. Plan for the instructional use of Screencastify. This model of instruction works well for blended classrooms where the emphasis is placed on student autonomy - allowing students to learn at their own pace. Join us for this session on using Microsoft Flip (formerly Flipgrid), Sway, and Forms to facilitate student instruction. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn flipped instruction basics; 2. Explore three tools that can facilitate flipped instruction; and 3. Plan for the use of flipped instruction in the classroom. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
