Use this interactive to create a "race against time" newsfeed that challenges students to take notes efficiently. Follow the directions to create a list of items to add to your newsfeed, then add images if desired. Your newsfeed automatically plays and advances through your list; however, it also provides an option to pause during the feed. When finished, use the URL or QR code to share your Newsfeed Generator or use the embed code to embed to your website.

Add the Newsfeed Generator to many classroom lessons. Share a newsfeed on your whiteboard to engage students at the beginning of a new unit. Provide a set of clues and use their responses to gauge prior understanding. Create newsfeeds to announce field trips, locate areas of interest for social studies lessons, or point out locations in novels and other reading material. Have students create their own newsfeed as an activity for sharing a favorite location, where they were born, or to begin a biography of a famous person or series of historical events such as the civil rights movement. In science class, have students create a newsfeed sharing traits of different habitats or environmental disaster sites. Browse through the options ranging from corporate to hip hop to preview and select from the choices offered. Select download to add to your device. Although Joystick is royalty-free, they do require attribution to use it for free legally. Find all attribution information and faqs at the link describing how to use royalty-free music found at the top of every page.

Joystock is an excellent resource to bookmark for use in a variety of classroom projects. Share with students to use when creating podcasts, videos, or any multimedia project. Choose a calming tune to play as students enter your classroom or a more lively selection to get students inspired to begin their day. Use music from Joystock when creating videos with online tools such as moovly, reviewed here. For example, use the Travel Promo template found in moovly to create a short video tour of a location studied during geography class. Add music from Joystock to set the appropriate mood and create a professional-looking and sounding video. Undraw is an open-source resource for image designs to use with any application. Choose from a huge library of images available in PNG and SVG formats. Use the color generator to customize and change the image color to fit your needs. Although only a portion of each image changes color, the effect is significant and very helpful for various needs. Take advantage of the search feature to browse through the many available images that match your criteria. After selecting an image and color, click to open the picture and choose from options to download to your computer as an SVG or PNG file.
In the Classroom
Be sure to bookmark this resource for images for a variety of classroom uses. Include images from this site in your class newsletter or website. Select interesting images to use for creative writing prompts. Change the color in an image and ask students to compare the two images and reflect upon how the use of color changes an item's mood or tone. Bookmark this site on classroom computers for students to use with their creative projects. Earth School contains a 30-day nature-focused series of lessons and activities designed for learners of all ages. Each daily Quest includes a video introduction along with a quiz and additional discussion and focus activities. Developed in response to school shutdowns due to the Coronavirus, activities are intended to be self-paced and available for students to complete on any device. Lessons are organized into themes. Create a free account to save and edit activities. Students who complete all 30 activities receive a certificate via email. The videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable.

Previous experience with layer-based design software editing such as Photoshop is extremely beneficial. The Photopea Learn page provides helpful tutorials, but individuals without previous training may need additional support.Challenge students to learn about the different options and features included with Photopea, then create and share video tutorials for their peers using a screen recording tool like Free Screen Recorder Online, reviewed here. As your students become familiar with the different features, have students include their edited images in any multimedia projects. Include images when using Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education, reviewed here, when creating videos, flyers, or websites. View ten pairs of satellite images to view surface changes, evaluate the causes, and select from options that caused the image changes. Players get two tries to get the correct answer. Along with the right answer, each choice shares the image's location and a short explanation of the featured event.

Use this game to introduce any unit on geographic changes, climate change, or landforms and geography. Consider sharing and discussing the first pair together as a class and share ideas for how to analyze each pair of images using the information provided, such as dates and options for choices. Include the game as part of a computer center, then ask students to choose one event to research further. For example, choose the images representing changes due to flooding and research flooding issues on rivers near your location. Enter your email and download the versatile library of items, including mix and match characters and various objects to use when creating scenes. After selecting to download the images, all files are saved to your computer in a zip folder, open the folder to access all of the shared items. All images are in PSD format for use with Photoshop. Use Photoshop tools to edit all features of images, including text, color, layers, and more.

Download the desktop version for you and your students to create interactive books for any subject. Make books for younger students to teach colors or ABC's. Use the search bar to find free resources by grade level or content area, including activity booklets, teaching packets, posters, and more. Save favorite resources within your Twinkl account for later use. Use the links at the bottom of the home page to find additional free tools such as Twinkl Create. Twinkl Create is an interactive that includes templates that guide you by creating personalized banners, word mats, flyers, and much more.

Bookmark Twinkl for use throughout the year to find teaching resources for holidays, content topics, and homework ideas. Take advantage of Twinkl Create to easily make and differentiate charts, banners, word mats, and other classroom use printables. When saving favorite materials found on the site, set the popup reminder to remind you to use it later in the year. For example, when you find the End of Year packet, save it to your account and set a reminder for late spring so that it can be included with other items to include when wrapping up the school year or sending home materials for practice over the summer. Twinkl includes free teaching packets by grade level; these packets include activities customized for different ability levels. Use items from teaching packets as part of your center activities or send them home for additional practice as needed. After downloading materials, make your lessons digital using Kami, reviewed here. Use the free version of Kami to upload documents and add highlights, text, comments, and shapes before sharing with students.

TeachersFirst Reading Treks are built using Google Maps to chronicle the journey that a story character takes over the course of a book. Each stop along the way adds to student comprehension as they explore the information, visuals, and videos embedded in the map. Give your students context for the stories they are reading by using Reading Treks in your lessons. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand how to use Reading Treks in the classroom; 2. Learn how Reading Treks are created; and 3. Plan a new Reading Trek you will create for your instructional setting. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Nearpod is a free tool that can enhance interactivity in your instructional presentation. Use Nearpod on any device to engage students with interactive multimedia and formative assessments and learn to use data gathered through activities to inform instruction. Learn about the features of each tool and understand how to add them to your instructional toolkit. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Explore Nearpod library; 2. Customize a digital lesson; 3. And plan for the use of Nearpod as part of instruction. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Take the stress out of creating proper citations using Bibliography.com's citation creator; no registration required. Bibliography.com focuses on creating citations using the three major formats - Chicago, APA, and MLA. Enter a book title, author, or URL to begin selecting the appropriate item from the resulting search. If necessary, add edits to the information such as page number or annotation, then create your citation. Copy and paste your citation into any document or download it to Microsoft Word. Although registration isn't required, creating a free account offers you options, including online storage that makes all items saved accessible from any device.

In the Classroom
This is a great site to recommend to students for use at home to build properly constructed citations. If using on classroom computers, previous citations would not be available for all students to use; recommend that students create an account to store and access all previous work. MyBib is a bibliography and citation generator that offers many different citation styles. Use this simple tool to create and save citations for various resources, including websites, PDFs, and ISBN. Begin by selecting the type of resource from the options bar or drag a PDF onto the site. Follow the prompts that may ask for additional information. When finished, select the download option to copy and add to a document, choose from other options to print, add to Google Drive, and more. Creating an account is optional; however, it allows you to save your citations for future use. MyBib also offers a Chrome extension that creates citations directly from websites.

In the Classroom
Include this tool on all classroom computers and as a link on your class website for student use. This bibliography tool helps students properly format their Works Cited pages. Use this tool to help keep your students (or even yourself) organized! Make sure you teach plagiarism lessons about paraphrasing and proper citation of sources, so students use this tool properly! Take the drudgery out of writing formal papers by emphasizing thinking over mechanics. Whether teaching beginning research or seniors in high school, introduce them to MyBib. For younger students, seeing all the formatting and citing done correctly from the beginning makes sense, whether it is the body of the writing or the bibliography. With either age group, give lessons about each part of a paper or letter. Demonstrate on an interactive whiteboard (or with a projector) and think out loud as a group to pull together ideas, sources, quotes, and more to support an argument and build a paper. You can use it, too, when you write for your graduate program.
