Digital Literacy is an important topic to teach to students, and understanding copyright is increasingly essential as all students are now publishers and creators. This site provides a free curriculum for all grade levels to teach copyright and fair use. Choose from one of the three grade-level bands - elementary, middle school, or high school to access the shared lessons. Each of the grade-level content areas includes lessons, slides, videos, and all materials needed to teach the curriculum fully. In addition to the student lessons, Copyright & Creativity also includes an on-demand teaching unit for professionals that is hosted on Canvas, reviewed here. Videos included with the lessons are hosted on YouTube.

In the Classroom
Utilize the free curriculums offered on this site to teach students (and yourself) about the proper use of copyright. If you are unable to download the videos, this site recommends viewing the videos using View Pure, reviewed here, to remove all of the annoying "extras" included with YouTube videos. As you teach lessons and ask students to brainstorm ideas or compare and contrast information, use a graphic organizer tool such as Popplet, reviewed here, to create and save visual displays of students' ideas that include both text and images. Ask students to include a link to their Popplet organizer on Seesaw, reviewed here, along with original drawings, recordings, or other materials created during your unit. As a final project, extend learning by asking students to create a tutorial about copyright based upon their knowledge. Provide a variety of resources for creating the tutorial as a way to differentiate learning. Examples of some tools to include are Book Creator, reviewed here, or Adobe Creative Cloud Express Video Maker, reviewed here, or create an infographic using Canva Infographic Maker, reviewed here.

Milanote is a digital bulletin board that includes drag and drop features to add notes, images, files, text, almost anything! Share your boards with others to collaborate in real-time, when finished, share your boards using the link to view online or download as a high-quality PDF. Additional options include a web clipper app to add items directly from your browser, and the Milanote app allows you to save text, images, and links on your phone for use when working on the computer interface. Take advantage of the ready to use templates available to start your visual boards. Education examples include boards for research projects, brainstorming, class notes, and an academic project plan. Free accounts include adding up to 100 items, unlimited boards, and uploading up to 10 files.

In the Classroom
Use Milanote to organize ideas and resources for upcoming lessons and units. Collaborate with peers using a visual board to organize and brainstorm ideas. Share with students to use when planning collaborative projects, to share resources, or to organize notes. Don't forget to look at all of the templates, not just those found under the education label. Use mood board templates for students to creatively share images and ideas to describe the mood or setting in a novel. Take advantage of the storyboard templates to help students organize an upcoming podcast or video presentation. Using technology tools to deliver information that is both meaningful and actionable can change students' reactions to feedback. With good information on how their performance compares to the goal, students can become partners in a collaborative effort to better align their work with the instructional objective. Join us to learn five strategies that change the feedback loop in your classroom. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Recognize the components of effective feedback; 2. Develop an understanding of the RISE feedback model; and 3. Discover ways to use Google tools to deliver feedback to students. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Create, teach, and manage online learning with eduflow's learning management system. First, create a course from scratch or begin with one of the provided templates. Next, use the links within each activity to personalize the course offering and upload files. Then, adjust the submission settings and rules to define course deadlines, options for editing after submission, and adding prerequisites necessary before allowing access to individual activities. Finally, invite students to join the course using their email. Once added, your teacher dashboard will show student progress within each course. Free accounts offer one instructor the ability to provide unlimited active courses with 10 monthly active learners in each course.

Use eduflow's features to deliver blended learning opportunities to students in a variety of teaching settings. Differentiate learning by ability or student interest. Offer remote learning opportunities for students who are away from school for an extended time. Offer additional support and collaboration opportunities for students using Padlet, reviewed here. Create a Padlet that includes links to online resources used during your course or as a collaboration tool for students to share ideas and resources. Microsoft Whiteboard is a digital online whiteboard web tool that integrates with Microsoft 365 Education products. The whiteboard includes features for adding collaborators through Teams or by email invitation. Use the tools on the whiteboard to draw, type, add images, and much more. Your whiteboards save automatically to the cloud for easy access at any time or from any device. Sign in to your school's Microsoft 365 account or follow the directions to download the app for Windows or iOS. The download provides additional resources beyond what is available on school accounts.

In the Classroom
Use Microsoft Whiteboard to collaborate with students to share and organize information instantly. Use the whiteboard through Microsoft's Teams to differentiate instruction with groups of students. Allow students to create collaborative drawings as responses to literature. They can map out the plot or themes, add labels, create character studies, and more. Share the finished products on an interactive whiteboard, projector, or your class website. Have a group of students create a drawing so that another group can use it as a writing prompt. Use the whiteboard as a brainstorming or sketching space as groups (or the class) share ideas for a major project or for solving a real-world problem. Use this site in a computer lab (or on laptops) to create a drawing of the setting in a story as it is read aloud. As an assessment idea, have students draw out a simple cartoon with stick figures to explain a more complex process such as how democracy works. If you are lucky enough to teach in a BYOD setting, have a blended classroom, or are distance teaching, use Microsoft Whiteboard to demonstrate and illustrate any concept while students use the chat and drawing tools to interact in real-time. If you are studying weather, have students diagram the layers of the atmosphere and what happens during a thunderstorm, for example. Introduce this tool to students who are working on group projects. Alternatively, have students use this to work as partners or as a small team to complete complex math problems or equations. Each link provides general tips, suggested instructional tools, and tools for students to show what they know. Although created for educators as a starting point for remote learning and distance education, the tools and tips provide information for all educators providing distance learning.

Microsoft's Office Online is a completely free, web-based version of Microsoft Office. Designed to facilitate workplace readiness skills including communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity, Office online can be used with students of all ages. We will share promising practices as well as strategies for staying organized, easily sharing files, and using these tools with your students. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the features of Office Online that support the 4Cs; 2. Explore classroom applications for Microsoft Forms and Sway; and 3. Plan for the use of Office Online in the classroom. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

The authentic nature of simulations can be highly motivating for even your hardest to reach students. When used properly, instructional simulations can empower student learning, helping students to set goals, seek feedback, and demonstrate what they have learned. Learn to choose simulations that model the relationships between concepts studied. In this session, we will discuss how to best use simulations in the classroom to increase student achievement, allow students to reflect on what they have learned, and transfer their knowledge to new problems and situations. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the value of using simulations in the classroom; 2. Explore instructional simulations; and 3. Plan for the use of simulations in the instructional setting. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Snapstouch converts your photos into images that appear to be paintings. Choose and upload your image to begin. Select from the two options of painting 1 and painting 2, each option provides a different look to the "painting." This site also provides a couple of options to add outlines, change the brush size, and adjust the level of painting. Click "paint" to convert your image, when finished, choose to download to save on your device as a JPG image.

Before sharing with students, you may want to share this tool on an interactive whiteboard or projector and show students how to save images correctly. Use this tool anytime to add interest to photos for use on class blogs, wikis, or in presentation tools. Share with older students to use for converting images for projects or presentations. Curate and bundle online content into engaging websites or newsletters using elink's easy to use templates and tools. Begin by selecting a template or start from scratch. Add website links, customize the header text and image, select a layout, and adjust theme colors as desired. When finished, publish to access links to share as a website, use the embed code to embed into popular website platforms, or share via social media. Another option allows you to share as a newsletter using most email providers; however, not all of the templates work as a newsletter, so look for that option if that is how you plan to use this tool. The free plan offers one published post per day that includes up to 5 links.

In the Classroom
Use elink to curate and share information in a variety of ways with students, parents, and peers. For example, use elink to create a grouping of links to videos for student use then embed your newsletter on your class website for use at home and school. Create a monthly newsletter to share with parents that include links to websites for use at home to support your current class lessons. Ask older students to use elink to curate resources used when submitting research and multimedia projects. Have students include their elink as part of a project created with Sway, reviewed here. As an example, if students research the causes of the Revolutionary War, ask them to include a link to their elink creation to share their online project resources.
