First, select a thumbnail image to view a short description of the item and suggestions for modifications. Then, choose from the links that provide a preview to download the file to your Google Drive. All items use Google apps, including Slides, Sheets, Drawing, and Forms.

The Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes celebrates the untold stories of heroes worldwide and throughout history by sharing student-created project-based learning activities. First, browse through the shared projects page to find stories about lesser-known heroes of civil rights, wars, or STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Then, open any project to learn about the featured unsung hero and the storytellers that created the project. In addition to the completed projects, this site shares a project-based learning tool that provides a ten-step tutorial for creating and sharing student projects.

Provide student feedback using rubrics, text, stickers, or record an audio message. Share EdLight tasks using Google Classroom, Clever, or student codes. Make grading student work more accessible and more effective using EdLight's included tools. Use tools to draw on submitted work to point out specific areas of interest. Leave audio feedback that is specific and focused on each student's needs. Use EdLight to create portfolios for use when conferencing with parents. EdLight is an excellent tool for remote learning and hybrid learning situations as it allows flexibility in sharing work and providing timely feedback. Vmaker is an all-in-one screen recorder, video recorder, webcam recorder, and video editor. Use Vmaker to create, edit and schedule recordings without time limits or watermarks. Create a free account to record unlimited videos for free. Download Vmaker to your computer or install it as a browser extension following the directions upon signup. Once the extension or download is complete, access the included features to choose settings and begin recording. When finished, your video is available to edit or share. When ready to share, download the video to your device, copy the link for your video, or share by email.

Use this handy screen recording tool in a variety of ways in your classroom. Record tutorials for students to demonstrate how to access and use online sites; create recordings for substitutes to explain how to find and use the software on your computer, or make a how-to demo to find information on your class website to share with students and parents. Help students understand how to use the different features of documents, such as creating a tutorial showing students how to format cells in Excel, adding comments to a Google document, or finding and inserting images in slides. Share this tool with students to use when analyzing websites as part of your ongoing digital safety lessons. Ask them to include a video as part of a larger multimedia presentation. There are many technology tools available for classroom use, but which ones are teachers' favorites? Join TeachersFirst as we showcase and compare some of our contributors' favorite edtech resources. Explore new and tried-and-true technology tools for your classroom and help us decide which tool is the winner of this season's Smackdown! As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn about and compare some of TeachersFirst contributors' favorite technology tools; 2. Evaluate one or more tools for classroom use; and 3. Share ideas for using resources with other participants. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

PixCove offers downloadable JPEG images for use privately or commercially without requiring attribution. Use the keyword search to locate images for specific topics or browse through the latest uploads. Included with each image is a short description with tags and a statement of no copyright declaring the availability to use the image without attribution. Even when not required, it is always a good idea for students to provide attribution when possible.

Explore PixCove as a resource to find images and backgrounds for any digital projects and presentations. Select interesting images to display for creative writing prompts or ask students to select a photo to inspire a creative writing project. Ask students to write their stories (displaying the image) with Telegra.ph, reviewed here, to share with the class. Create your free account to find mini-lesson Sparks, topic and genre-focused lessons, and larger projects based on topics or themes. View the Writing Gallery to find a large selection of student writing examples. Save materials located on the site to your Google Drive, Pinterest, or download a PDF document to your computer. After creating an account, use the filters within each type of content to find activities sorted by grade level or type of writing.

In the Classroom
Incorporate these free writing materials for use in all grades for both long-term and short-term writing activities. Each activity includes instructions and handouts for student work. Use the Sparks activities as prompts at writing centers or for homework. Consider using a tool such as Duck Soup, reviewed here, to convert the PDF student activities into a grade-able sheet activity. Use Duck Soup's tools to create activities in your Google Classroom that offer options for students to retry work and set question values. As students produce their final work, share it by creating individual or class ebooks using Book Creator, reviewed here. In addition to sharing their written text, ask your authors to create audio recordings to include with their work.

EDUimages provides a library of photos taken from seven urban schools that primarily serve multicultural students and low-income families representing modern classrooms. Images cover all grade levels from PreK through high school. Search the site by keyword, or browse through the collections divided into grade levels, subject area, and more. Download using the links provided; included with each image is all copyright information. The photos are free and licensed under Creative Commons attribution and require appropriate attribution.

In the Classroom
Bookmark this site for professional use and share it with students whenever using images for class projects and assignments. Be sure to discuss how to use and attribute images within their work properly. Use these images on your class web page, in newsletters, or in slide presentations. Many of the images also work well for use with creative writing projects. For example, display one of the interesting images on your whiteboard or share it with students in their learning space to use as a writing prompt. The free version includes dyslexia fonts, a font changer, and the ability to adjust word spacing to make websites easier to view. Content features include Immersive Reader, translations, a picture dictionary, and screenshot tools. Enhanced display tools offer you the ability to emphasize links and adjust for color blindness. Try it for free by choosing your browser and following the directions to add the extension. After adding the extension, pin it to your toolbar and adjust the different options as desired.

Circlyapp is a platform for organizing and sharing information visually using brightly colored circles as an organizing tool. Work as an individual or invite others into collaborative projects and discussions using Circlyapp. Register for an account using your email to begin a blank project or choose from shared templates. The shared templates include ideas for book reviews, character maps, and a drag-and-drop opposite adjectives game. After creating a project, use the link to share with collaborators. Free accounts allow you to save up to 30 projects and download completed activities as an image.

In the Classroom
Share Circlyapp on your whiteboard or screen when remote teaching as a visual tool for organizing and discussing any topic. For example, use the character map template as a starting point for discussions of actions and character traits of essential characters in any story or to analyze noteworthy people in history. Have older students complete character maps on their own as an assessment activity. Share with students who are working on group projects as an organizational tool for managing different project components. Ask students to include a completed Circlyapp image as part of a larger project or book report. Use and finish the book review template as a starting point for a book review project, then include the image with other parts of the assignment within a Sway presentation, reviewed here. Take advantage of the included opposite adjectives game template to create drag and drop matching activities for any topic. They may be fluent enough with technology to create and post their own work but may not be aware that not everyone who posts online is credible. Teaching students to sift through multiple sets of information allows them to learn the difference between propaganda, advertising, and factual reporting. This is a skill that students need in order to be truly digitally literate. Join us to learn strategies to help your students determine if information is reliable. Teachers need to be able to create and deliver content and communications in a way that is accessible to each student. Fortunately, there are free technologies that do just that. Join us as we explore strategies and two free tools that facilitate an inclusive learning environment. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the importance of accessibility; 2. Learn about a free Microsoft tool that can be used to digitize content into accessible materials; and 3. Discover a tool that helps bridge communication gaps and supports accessible classroom learning. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
