The tool offers simple editing capabilities, enabling you to share your finished infographic via a link, embed code, or PNG image.

Piktochart AI Infographic Generator:

When you arrive at Piktochart AI Infographic Generator, you can type the prompt into the text box or upload a document. Signing in is unnecessary, but doing so provides access to additional infographics.

Notice the five template options for the Infographics: List, Timeline, Comparison, Newsletter, and Chart.

If you sign up for the site, you can register using Facebook, Google, or your email.

Here’s what is included in the Free account. You can invite up to 3 team members (four collaborators, including yourself). You also get 50 AI credits monthly and 100MB of storage (should you need it).

Once you are ready to begin, type your prompt into the text box (or upload a file). For this example, we put in the history of airlines in America, and we chose the Timeline template. When you are ready, click to Generate Timeline

Below, you can view the creation and the template design options (see the left side). Scroll through the many design options and click on the one you would like to use.

Once you select the design, your infographic will change immediately. You can also replace any of the images within your timeline. You are taken to an AI image creator if you click Change image

Once at the AI image creator, type in what you want to create. For this timeline, the image request was a 1950’s airplane. Click Use Image to add to your timeline.

Click on Edit this Template in the top right corner to edit the text or titles, add shapes, change colors, and more.

Now you will get the full editing options (and there are many!)

For example, you could select the title to change the font type, as shown below. There are many options, so keep changing the text, editing the wording, etc., until you are pleased with the timeline. Or keep it as-is, and you have a ready-to-go timeline in seconds!

Once you’ve completed your timeline, you must decide how to save or share your work. The Share button offers several options: you can share your design publicly on the Web (private sharing isn’t available with the free account), or students can download their project to print or save it to their device if they want to keep their information private. A Copy Link button at the bottom of the share options lets you share your project directly with specific viewers. Here is the sample project used during the writing of this blog post. Please note that you do not need to log in to the website to view the finished product.

Classroom Implementation Ideas:

Piktochart AI Infographic Generator is a site for creating various types of infographics, including timelines, lists, comparisons, newsletters, and charts. It is an excellent instructional tool for educators, but students can also use it (edited and shared). Below, we share 12 simple yet creative ways to incorporate Piktochart AI Infographic Generator infographics in your lessons.

  1. Create timelines for different historical periods (or inventions), allowing students to see the chronological sequence of events. This helps students understand cause and effect and contextualizes important moments within broader historical narratives. To make the timeline more engaging, students can color-code different events or add illustrations.
  1. Create character timelines for novels or plays, tracking a protagonist’s key experiences and transformations throughout a story. This technique helps students analyze character arcs, understand narrative structure, and develop more profound reading comprehension skills. Using the editing features at this site, students can use different colors or symbols to represent emotional or psychological changes.
  1. Assign students infographic creation as a learning activity. Students can work in groups of 2-4 and create an AI infographic about nearly any topic.
  1. Assign each student a different topic (such as a different European city) to research. Students can create quick infographics (in a template style of their choice) and edit them using the features available on this site. Once finished, share all the finished infographics on a tool such as Padlet to create a virtual gallery walk where students can see one another’s work.
  1. Generate pre-lesson visual introductions to new topics. Use the infographics as an introduction to a difficult math concept, the history of an invention, or a battle during the Civil War.
  1. Construct timelines that showcase the evolution of scientific discoveries in specific fields, such as medicine, astronomy, or technology. Students can research and visualize how key innovations build upon each other.
  1. Create timelines exploring the progression of artistic, musical, or cultural movements. This could include tracking the development of musical genres, art styles, or social movements and helping students understand how cultural expressions emerge, transform, and influence society.
  1. Create a digital comparison tool to examine primary sources. For example, ask the AI to compare two famous speeches (e.g., one by Abraham Lincoln and another by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.). Students can highlight variations in language, perspective, and interpretive details.
  1. The comparison template can be used to examine social trends, cultural practices, or demographic shifts across regions or periods. Students can prompt the AI tool with the specific two areas they wish to compare.
  1. Construct timelines using the AI prompt that show environmental changes, species evolution, or climate patterns. This will help students visualize long-term ecological transformations and understand complex environmental processes and human impacts on natural systems.
  1. Students can use the AI list generator to compile and organize the steps in a research project, breaking down complex topics into manageable, structured information. They can also use the template for planning.
  1. Leverage the list generator to help students overcome their writing blocks. The list can generate many possible character traits, plot development ideas, potential story settings, narrative conflict scenarios, and more. It can also be helpful as students continue in the planning and writing process.
